Looking at changing. Have always liked the F11, thinking 13/63 reg (may go to 12 plate), MSport spec.

Some Q's

MPG is important, my days of driving fast are past, and when on a Mway tend to set cruise at 60-70, my right foot isn't heavy, so what is the realistic MPG?

Also any options must haves?

Also looking at E Class, and possibly Jag XF SB

Bought an ex lease 62 plate 520 Touring manual at 90k miles. It stated av fuel at 45.6mpg. I have now done about 3k miles and new average is 47mpg, mainly A roads and motorway. I've been very impressed so far.

Expect just over 40mpg, real not OBC.

And a much better car than the E220, I owned both.

The BMW is far more comfortable, much better mpg, much better infotainment, much quieter, nicer interior materials, and handles better too.
Steering on the Mercedes was horrid, stupid variable steering rack, not speed dependant but how much you turn the wheel. Nasty.
My mapped 520d was nearly as quick as my E350 cdi.

The only thing that was better on the Merc was the load space.

Driving like that you'll get way over 40mpg. I have a 530d F10, daily local / long distance cruiser and it averages around 45, measured tank to tank.

Sure, if I drove it hard it would be way below that but the 5 series diesels aren't that sort of car IMO, I have others for fun.

Not MSport. Does over 600 miles to the tank and a quick check on receipts vs miles says between 10 and 11p per mile on fuel. Figures are from the car, not calculated.

You should get over 50mpg with the cruise set at 60-70 on a long trip. A delivery driver drove my old F10 520d 300 miles with the cruise at 70 and averaged 55mpg on the OBC, which would translate to 53 ish real mpg. That was the only time we ever saw that level of economy, as I have a slightly heavier right foot!

Hey?
The F11 has a 70 litre tank, you can get 15.5 gallons in it from a fill up, if filing from almost empty, 600 miles equals 38mpg.
I would guess most get £70 in, so around 65 litres, so nearly 42mpg.

As I said, expect a genuine 40mpg and you won't be disappointed, and you will probably see 48mpg on the obc which make your feel good.

It gives a fuel warning at 70 miles to empty, I've never run it down much further. I've only filled it five times and driven 3200+ miles. Last fill to brim was only 57 litres.

So 47mpg, if you got 600 miles off 57 litres.

Yeah that is about right for a tank full with 75% being motorway etc.

I get around 42 mpg from my 60-plate. It's a comfortable drivers car, even with the sport suspension set-up. I find the rear seats very uncomfortable though. You'll probably get through a set of rear tyres after 20k miles.
