I echo this and when I had that engine in my X5 I always left the drivers door open and then I couldn't stop revving it and listening to that V8 roar...I miss that engine big time and its been the most favourite BMW engine I have had. thumbup
I struggle to think of any V8 noise that doesn't give me a chub. wobble
The V8 in my M3 never hit the spot for me and left me very flat in the noise department but I put that down to me liking more of a traditional V8, yet I loved the angry and aggressive noise the AJPV8 made in my TVR at high revs though...big time.

The V8 M3 fails to deliver unless you modify the exhaust but I really enjoyed and appreciated the noise my X5 made even as standard. cloud9

Love the colour of your Cerb & for me the phase/mark1 front end is just so right.

A friend at work had the XKR dynamic when I my C5 RS6 his sounded lovely but so did mine his was more top end raspy while mine bellowed /throbbed. We one day had both in the car park got a few others out to see which sounded he best - interestingly the XKR owner actually preferred the bellow but he only would buy new cars.
