It stands to reason that the price would increase commensurate to the mileage. Additionally, since the warranty entails visited a BMW dealer, the mileage will be updated at any and every opportunity.
You are on a rolling contract monthly, you only get a new quote if you end that contract and start again. On the yearly contract you get a quote every year, hence if you then go over the 60k miles it doubles, roughly.

Monthly rolling contracts are subject to revision with the proviso of thirty days notice. The detail is in the reality of whether that is reviewed by Mondial periodically - enough to offset the additional expense of the monthly payments over the almost guaranteed increase of the annual reviews with payment in full.

You what?!

Do you work in power sales?? biggrin

All I know is I took out my warranty 3 weeks ago, I asked if it was still better to do it monthly as I know previously when I had gone over 60k miles the prices hadn't shot up, he said it was still better to do it that way, the increases on the monthly scheme is purely inline with inflation and overall costs, but not the big jump for letting it lapse of for going over 60k miles.

Basically, you'll find out if you made a saving once they increase your monthly payments. Buying annually seems to work out at 'buy twelve months for the price of ten'.

It sounds like you've been blagged a little and are hoping for the best - so I hope the best for you!

Well I have always had the extended warranty on a rolling month basis and it has never increased previously.

However, just about to advertise the X3 anyway, so I guess I will never know.

Well we have both said seem quite compatible. There are others on here with monthly rolling contracts, so it'll come to light at some point.

On another note, I wonder if there are any other manufacturers that offer a Mondial-style insured warranty that is manufacturer supported.

We decided to stop renewing the BMW warranty when it went past £500 a year on our 2005 E91 325i. Secondary reason was that I personally don't like nor trust our local BMW dealer. We had a problem with our car that I diagnosed using Google - yet had the dealer completely perplexed.

In the 3 or 4 years since, its needed a rear wheel bearing, which I think cost us about £300. Although I'm not kidding myself - there are some expensive parts on these cars. In the case of our N52 engine E91 - £500 water pump, £1,500 DSC unit etc. Then there's the electronic steering lock ... and all sorts of potential wallet clenching "ouch" you can read about on many forums. But you'd be very unlucky if all these things happened to your car all at once :-)

However, if you don't go down the dealer route for servicing, the parts/labour prices come down too. And there are other options available (eg. refurbishing a part that BMW would simply replace).

We use a mobile mechanic to do servicing work. If there's something he can't do (because he doesn't have the tools usually, or because it's something that can't be easily done on a driveway), we take the car to a local specialist.

They do increase the price, probably annually, but not in the same way it jumps up when you go over 60k miles.
Correct - I'm at 126k on my X5 now having taken out a monthly policy at 40k miles and the payments really haven't changed much. They do try to wriggle a bit more over fair wear and tear items beyond 100k miles though on claims but I'd still take the monthly policy before reaching 60k miles every time
