Plus one.
Cheers guys. Here are some more random thoughts and impressions.Had a good drive of it today, around 130 miles worth. The pro media is pretty darn good. Paired with Bluetooth to my phone and can happily leave phone in glovebox and have access to everything I need. Calls are easy to make with interface wheel or better yet by voice control. Call quality is awesome, the other end didn't realise I was in a car (of the 7 or so calls I made). Much of the media functionality can be operated from the steering wheel. The little toggle wheels and buttons are very well thought out and work exceptionally well. Nav is pretty good on a wide screen and again you can input locations via voice, handwriting recognition or wheel. Also accesses your phone's address book. Also copied a CD to the local hard drive. I think it has 20gb on board.
Cruise control is a million times better than the annoying stalk on Mercedes. Really easy to set and tweak with the wheels on the steering wheel. In fact, I drove a long stretch merely using my thumb to adjust my speed!
M sport Steering wheel is impressive. Looks and feels great. Seats are brilliant, as always, with easy electric adjustment. Yet to test memory function and profiles. Overall, cabin quality in my opinion is better than the 65 plate C Class I had before Christmas. I don't want a luxury car, I want a sporty luxury feel to a car and I think BMW have the interior spot on. The Merc just felt too glossy and blingy. I grew tired rather quickly.
Powered boot is great. Also if you hold the lock button on key, it shuts the windows too.
Best of all the car looks sporty yet sort of mean with the low pointing nose and wide stance. To my eye the RWD sports suspension really does make the car more aesthetically pleasing over the X drive. Very good looking car in my opinion. Everyone at work could've swore I had 19 inch alloys but they're 18. The wheels fill the arch perfectly at this ride height.
In terms of ride quality, this is a Gran Tourer not a 'sports' car. It's made for Comfort long distance driving with power to make it fun and sporty. It soaks up bumps really well, it's smooth for all passengers and that's on standard Sport springs! It really shifts low down and keeps on pulling. It's no sports car though so if you're looking for a go-kart experience that glues to the floor then you'll be disappointed. It's absolutely perfect for the target demograph. There is turbo lag but no more than say on the Jag F Type V6 S (which pulls much harder at high speeds in comparison being a 'proper' sports car). The gearbox combination is flawless, it's like witchcraft.
The 3 litre diesel is a perfect balance of performance and economy in my opinion and I'm thrilled I picked this model. It's a complete all rounder in my opinion. Can see this bringing a smile for a long while yet.
We had a 435d x drive when my wife used to work for BMW. It was a rocket ship. I hit 60 in 4.3 seconds. On the motorway driving at 80, I averaged 46mpg. Around town it was low 30. We took it to Germany for one of her work trips. At 140mph it felt stable. It pulled from 100-140 like it did from 80-100. Virutally lagless. It sounded like a V8 at times. You wouldn't have believed it was a 6 pot diesel. Anyhow that all aside it was very practical and occupancy in the rear seats was not an issue for our passengers. Felt quite comfortable in the back with decent leg room. My favourite feature was powered boot operation and pro nav.

Reading that you can only wonder how fast the Alpina version must be like. gizlaroc said:
Nice! I love dark greys too.
Thanks. I was a little unsure about metallic grey but it has a lot of depth with a good polish. Looks sporty and mean with the daytime running lights. I'm getting it detailed and coated with GTechniq EXO next month so it's shiny and easy to maintain. On that note, I recall you posted some leather cleaning tips for car seats. Can you remind me?
Mine is coming Mid May and at first I didn't think the wait would get to me, however it's already driving me mad!
I plan to keep it completely standard other than some black or carbon fibre mirror caps and the black grilles at the front. Any recommendations on where the best place is to pick up the caps from?

Am considering a 435d X Drive M sport coupe at Wollaston BMW currently on a p.c.p.
Is the X Drive really much help in the winter months as I do live out in the sticks and prone to muddy, frosty or sometimes snow affected roads?
I don't tend to keep my cars very long but thought that this would be an ideal everyday 'fun' option.
Am I looking at the right model? The commute is about 30 miles a day in total with the odd trip to Scotland and back several times a year.
But for £36,850 used does this seem like a good idea?
I'm only doing about 12k miles per year and I would have chosen petrol if it was an option for X Drive

£36.5k used? My new 440i coupe with lots of options was only £38k plus about £2k in finance costs. Is the X Drive really much help in the winter months as I do live out in the sticks and prone to muddy, frosty or sometimes snow affected roads?
