Which 4 Series Should I Go For?
Discussion
The only negatives I've found so far with the 4GC are
Numb electrical steering. It's as numb as every other electrical steering car out there so whether this is a positive or negative depends on where you stand with this technology. There's no feedback and it can feel floaty.
When it rains and you open the boot, water drips down the inner seals and can be a bit messy. I've had cars that literally unload rain water in to the boot so this is a minor issue
I'm really impressed how well it soaks up bumps. My nephew has a 1 series M Sport and it's firm and a bit harsh in comparison. This is a lot more comfortable for passengers
Also like a numpty, discovered the left mirror wasn't dipping upon reverse parking because I had the mirror adjustment toggle pointing to left. Switched it to right and it works perfectly now.
The remote idrive app allows you to lock/unlock the car and flash the headlights via your smartphone. I've been known to get ocd with locking my car, so other than that it's a pretty useless app. It takes about 15-20s to send the command

This is one of the things I dislike about the 6 series too and the steering feels very detached which is a shame really because the steering is one of the things I like most about RWD cars. A mate of mine has just got a 420d GC so has the M Sport suspension which mine doesn't.
It's so bumpy, I much prefer the ride in mine.
Interesting. If it gets any more comfortable I'll snooze away. I'm impressed with the sports one and would get it again in a heart beat. It's perfect and looks great. The family commented how smooth it was - that's compared to a C Class, Mini and 1 series. Father in law has an S Class which is another level of comfort. It's so bumpy, I much prefer the ride in mine.
Have just been offered a brand new 435i M Sport Coupe
List price £46,629.99 on a pcp.
£5,000 Deposit
£486.44 per month over 48 months
Residual £15,724.54p
APR @ 4.9% - just dropping to 3.9% for the new quarter!
Bearing in mind of course the onset of the 440i, is this a decent deal?
It's Black Sapphire with a black interior
I'm rather assuming that it will drop in value like a stone of course.

Problem is that my car was sold today so I need something pretty quickly.

My car is going tomorrow, put my deposit down last week and ill get the 440 in about six weeks. Just borrowing one for the gap as six weeks isn't too bad to get a good deal / the exact car I want! Problem is that my car was sold today so I need something pretty quickly.

I could never put £10,000 into a PCP like that.
I do intend to purchase the car, i've also gone with a 2.5 year deal. The deposit vs monthlies balance out by the end of the term anyway. (Actually works out a bit less as you pay less interest).
E.g.
£10k + (30 x £300) = £19k
£2k + (30 x £567) = £19k
It's just due to my own circumstances at the moment I have more cash and would rather have lower monthlies with an incoming new mortgage in the next 12 months which will be more.

Cool. Makes sense. The deposit vs monthlies balance out by the end of the term anyway. (Actually works out a bit less as you pay less interest).

Morning All,
So 2 months and 315 posts later, I just want to say thank you to everyone in this thread who helped me make this decision. I am so pleased with the car and cannot stop smiling when I'm driving it! A few pictures below, I may upload more soon.
Looks great!! I think this car looks great in every colour. It'll look the boss on the roads So 2 months and 315 posts later, I just want to say thank you to everyone in this thread who helped me make this decision. Did you go for the 430d?
So much to discover and play around with. The car is a delight to drive. I keep finding excuses to drive mine.
You're gonna have an awesome Sunday. Running in period is 1200 miles according to the BMW manual, I must say I've given it some beans now and then already. Hard to resist! Have fun

Where do you guys charge your mobile phone? I can only see one USB port in the arm rest. As per modern cars, there's no cigarette socket. Are there any other USB or charging ports?
There's a cigarette socket/ 12v supply in the lower central consoleGassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
