Which 4 Series Should I Go For?
Discussion
I've driven a good 900 miles in my 430d GC now. This is a brilliant car. It's a GT family car and serves exactly the purpose I was looking for.
I'm now enjoying the steering. Yes it's electric and somewhat numb, but it's accurate and pretty darn good to point toward bends. The car grips nicely and accelerates out of bends too. I really like the ride height on the rwd sports suspension
Long drives in this are comfy yet sufficiently sporty. Big boot so handy and electric tailgate is awesome. Getting 40mpg atm. The car is so effortless I have to keep watching I'm not hitting triple figures. You can chew through miles so easily in this.
Not enjoying the sat nav much. The colour coding is confusing- your route is in white and when so many other things on screen are white it's not obvious where you're going at a glance. Perhaps I'm thick, but finding a postcode is s chore. It requires you enter country, Street, town then postcode. I want to search simply by postcode!!
I've washed my twice so far, but getting it detailed in two weeks and GTechniq EXO applied to rear. That should give me low maintenance exterior care for a couple of years. I'm interested to see how good the paintwork will look after a light polish.
Brilliant car overall. Everyone that's sat in it has been mightily impressed. My friend has an Audi A5 Sport line convertible, which has a similar interior to the A5 Sport back (the third car on my list after the 4 and Jag XE) and we both preferred the look of my interior. He absolutely loved the BMW steering wheel - I think it's the best at this level. So I'm baffled at all the reviews saying the BMW is outdated? I had a 65 C Class for a week and the BMW spanks it IMO too. I found it a bit gawdy, and a bit too luxury focused than sporty

That's not right. You should be doing town or postcode not all of it. Try putting the postcode in where the town is and you should be sorted. Its like that on my 340i anyway.Edited by silent ninja on Sunday 10th April 19:11

Anyway, I don't even bother with that. I send it to the car using Google Maps before I leave.
Las time I tried I recall it wouldn't let me put a postcode in until I completed the town field. If the town field accepts postcodes, that should fix it. Seems a bit unintuitive.
I've used the BMW Remote app to send Google locations to the car. It has Google Maps built in to it. I thought it would flash up on the screen or auto enter the destination, but it doesn't. It appears in your Messages folder which you have to manually navigate to, open the message, then navigate. I found that a bit clunky.
Google Maps can use the Send to Car function to send destinations directly but this only appears to work on the desktop version of Maps. I can't find the Send to Car option in the mobile version of maps, trick missed by Google...?

I know I'm going to look like the luddite I am for asking this but how do you send a location to the car via Google Maps?!
You need to set up ConnectedDrive first I think. Then sign into your Google account and add your car. Sorry I can't be more help but Google will be able to.

It's Christmas again! It's a long 5 days but you'll be thrilled with the car.Original Delivery Date - Wed May 18th

Mine is away getting detailed. Should make maintenance simpler going forward. I get it back on Friday too!
Picked her up yesterday! 440i, lots of options + some carbon fibre mirror caps. (£330, ouch!)
I've already put 200 miles on the clock as we were heading away for a night due to it being bank holiday weekend. Absolutely love it!
My only question so far, is whether it's possible to have the current roads speed limit showing on the map with sat nav? (or, as i suspect, does this only come with the speed limit display option @ £220?

Hello 40i ers please keep us informed of your mgs please over various drives.
...and someone mentioned jag xe anyone else sat in one ? Compared to my 330d completely and utterly tight and claustraphobic inside ,I was pleasantly pleased really decision made ,no I wont be
Mgs? Assume you are asking about mpg unless I have misunderstood....and someone mentioned jag xe anyone else sat in one ? Compared to my 330d completely and utterly tight and claustraphobic inside ,I was pleasantly pleased really decision made ,no I wont be
If so I have a F31 340i, 3000 miles in and I am on 29.7 mpg from the start.
Was that what you were looking for?
Last time I looked our 340 touring was on 30.9 mpg over 4500 miles , never re set the computer since I bought it .
I also looked at the jag , i thought it was a little tight inside too but it was nice , I was tempted to take a test drive up until the moment a guy walking past told me it is a great car and he had just ordered one , he was well over pension age , when I looked around the showroom so we're all the other customers !

Ha ha! Perhaps your post says more about you than them, Paul? The Jag XE looks and drives great. Main reason it lost out because finance and lease deals for comparable specs were significantly cheaper on the BMW. The 4 is also a bit bigger, especially the boot.I also looked at the jag , i thought it was a little tight inside too but it was nice , I was tempted to take a test drive up until the moment a guy walking past told me it is a great car and he had just ordered one , he was well over pension age , when I looked around the showroom so we're all the other customers !
The XF is worth a look. Marginally more expensive but bigger and better kit. It looks slightly more complete too
