I'm thinking about going and having a look at a 125i.
Anybody have the mileage when parts need changing, brakes, pads etc?
Also I'm guessing the auto is a conventional box?
Depends how you drive - it'll let you know a few thousand miles for pads and other things like oil, filters and so on (it's called condition-based servicing). Discs - you'll have to check them yourself. If it's the 8-speed auto then it is a conventional torque converter.Anybody have the mileage when parts need changing, brakes, pads etc?

I mean components and expensive parts that need changing further into the mileage, just so I can check stuff has been done that should have been! TonyTony said:

There aren't any that I'm aware of - my last 335 went to 80k without anything other than pads/disks and routine service items. IS there some parts in particular you're concerned about?Monty Python said:

Its nothing in particular, just wouldn't want to be shelling out on something just after buying a car.Tony, the official maintenance schedule is somewhere on line. The condition based servicing is actually under certain limits of time/mileage. For example, the plugs are due at 60k irrespective. They are quite pricey £150 fitted. Air filter is diy (6 torx screws) in 5mn. Brake fluid every 2 years. In addition, I would budget for a water pump preventative replacement at 60k. Look at BMW value servicing too : very good vfm.
Brake consumables are very cheap (Textar from Carparts4less for instance) and a local garage can fit.
Depending on mileage I would also consider box and diff oil change, despite them being filled "for life" : again very cheap.
Overall it's a very cheap car to run and maintain.

The car is at 65k, so really alot of things should have been replaced by now I'm guessing.
