Hi All,

What do you make of this:

Bought a 520d new in Sept 2014. Was expecting first service to be Sept 2016 because it's sparingly used (currently under 6k miles)

Pings up needing oil service first of Jan, take it to the stealer to find build date is Dec 13. I understand batch builds and pull forward cars but it hat seems like a long gap to me and is driving the early service.

Thoughts on this? I'm annoyed but maybe not rightly so.

To dealer then quoted 370 for the service which is madness! What has everyone else paid? I will be goin Indy.

Cheers,

Swoxy

Find a cheaper quote, service it at BMW.

I bought a 14 plate F10 520d last August 2015 - it was a 2014 plate that was also built in 2013! The car was telling me it needed a service, but kept taking it into the dealers and they said it didn't. After a quick call to BMW UK I discovered that the car was correct. Luckily came with a service pack. I wasn't impressed that I wasn't told it was almost a year older than I thought it was.

As someone who works in mass produced premium vehicle manufacturing, the difference between a 13my and 14my car will be negligible. Unless advertised changes, even mid cycle face lifts are the equivalent to a fresh coat of paint - skin deep. Do not sweat the fact the car is a year older then you expected - that means nothing in the real world. Its paperwork.

Car being in for a service a year early would be frustrating to me as well though. I'd have a good moan at BMW UK, and hope for the best.

Thanks guys. Glad it's not just me but still very surprised, BMW will be getting a call Monday most certainly.
