I've been wondering how you can spot a 340 other than the twin exhausts. I don't think you can...
Agree and I used to like it when you could tell the difference between a 4 pot and 6 pot from the front grill, but they don't do that anymore so unless you see the car from behind it could be either a 318i or a 340i. Hi,
Anyone ordered one of these recently? I'm wondering what the current discounts are? I'm currently talking to three dealers and I've managed to get £10,000 off a £48,000 list price, but it seems that others have managed £11,500. Maybe there is further for me to go or perhaps BMW are offering less discount right now.
Anyway, what's the view on speccing adaptive suspension? Is it needed on the LCI cars?
Finally, did anyone consider the 335d before finally choosing the 340i? I'm not completely sure about the petrol car. I only do about 10,000 miles a year.

I used the C2C price as a baseline to work from, not sure what that is now. Q1 you could get around 24% off, think it's more towards 20% now. Try to get the dealer to chuck in the service pack as that's £500 retail but it seems to be easier to get that than additional discount on the car.
I drove a 340i without adaptive suspension but decided to spec it as it allows a change and I sometimes found my E90 a bit stiff on msport. Not driving yet but due to arrive in the next 2 weeks.
I previously had a 320d and did think of sticking with a diesel but I just don't find them fun to drive, my wife's 1.4 corsa put a bigger smile on my face as I love the power delivery of a petrol and longer gears. Plus wanted a 6 cylinder petrol before they all get replaced and finding an M model too expensive I decided on the 340.

Well, that's it. The wait is pretty much over. I get to choose my number plate Monday night, ready for collecting the car on Friday / Saturday next week.
Feeling a tad excited now - nothing beats that new car feeling. First 'sensible' car I've bought new, having gone for Esprits, Elises and Exiges previously.

Just a little taster for you to keep you motivated until pickup day. Had mine a week, it's epic!

I can't really talk as I have both on my F30, but if I had to choose one over the other I'd choose the brake assist over the parking assist

On the 340i you should be looking at around 20% off the list price. Use broadspeed and coast2coast to spec it up and get an initial price. Also worth building the car on the BMW site and progressing through to get a finance quite, recently even they have been offering at least £8k off.

Very much this. I used C2C for my M135i and also specced up a 435d GC for my boss. Print off the deal and take it to the main stealer. They will at least match it, if not offer a slightly better deal. Nick

I'm 15 weeks since placing my order...the wait is becoming difficult now! BMW Genius reckons week 28 build, so potentially the car will be with me in August. On the plus side it'll be a 17MY car with the updated iDrive and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
Just been contacted by the dealer wanting to know if I want to fit the new performance and sound kit that has been launched today?
Power up to 500nm and a great sounding from the exhaust (switchable - comes on when in Sports+ mode). Very tempted - will see if they will add it for free...

Speaking from personal experience I don't find the 335d that economical compared to a petrol. Over 27k miles my F31 has averaged just over 38mpg which compares to just over 30mpg from my old E92 335i with the N55 engine; the new B58 engine is better on fuel than an E92 335i (by as much as 20% if the official figures are to be believed) so even being conservative I reckon I'd see 33mpg as an average from a 340i. The question, therefore, is would you really pick a diesel over a 6-pot petrol for a gain of around 5mpg? If I was choosing again I certainly wouldn't so for me the 335d is pointless unless you want/need X-Drive. In your position doing your mileage I wouldn't give an oil burner a second look! Mine was a December build and in sports mode it pops and crackles quite nicely and its loud.
Yes, it can be retro-fitted. I think there are about 500 kits available for post-Dec 2015 cars, I think.
I now have a brand new F30 cat-back exhaust for a 340i to sell though, as I don't see why the dealership should keep it if I've paid for it as part of the new car. Any ideas on the best place to sell it?

It does sound good, and from what I've read here
http://www.bmwblog.com/2015/11/04/bmw-340i-to-get-...
it's 360bhp, which is an increase of 35bhp or so. Nice, but I think I'll pass, the stock car is quick enough for me.
PS SelocMole - need to see some photos of your car when it arrives

From what I understand stock 340i's are making close to 350bhp so in real terms this modification is only adding 10-15bhp rather than 35bhp. Not sure what it costs but if as I suspect it's a hefty four-figure sum it's to be hoped the package amounts to more than 10bhp and a noisier exhaust!http://www.bmwblog.com/2015/11/04/bmw-340i-to-get-...
