I got mine on March 1st, 10.5k discount plus free service pack on pcp. Went over 4K mileage today.

Exhaust on overrun in sports mode sounds great.

I got a quote from Coast2Coast on a well specced 340i Touring which I was pleased to see came with a 30% discount!

First thing this morning a BMW dealer called confirming the price. I am a few months off being in a position to order. Still can't decide 340i or 3 year old M5. If I can still get a 340i at this price I will be tempted!

Few questions:

For the oyster interior do you have to have cream dash?
Is comfort access worth it?
How much is service pack?
What tyres do they come with? Can you get MPSS?
How good is heated steering wheel?

Thinking following spec.

340i Touring
Grey
Oyster (depending on dash)
Comfort pack
Comfort opening
Pro nav with HUD
M Sport plus pack
Folding mirrors
Oyster comes with a split dash, bottom half oyster ,top black. It looks fine, I have it.

I picked it up on Friday pm and so far I've managed about 160 miles of local and motorway driving.

It's proving like I expected; coming from an M135i it's very similar and the controls are standard BMW so there's not much to learn there.

Things I have noticed.

1. Brakes. I went for the posy M-Sport brake pack which comes with 19' wheels; these brakes have a really good bite and progression
2. Ride. I didn't spec adaptive (I was too tight...) and I don't think I'll regret it; on 19' RFT it's firm but not too bad. I had it on the M135i and all it seemed to do was tighten the ride in sport mode.
3. Steering/handling. Surprisingly it feels more nimble than the 135i
4. Auto box. This is really good, and I think it's does blips on the downshift when using the paddles.

It's too soon to judge the engine - it's only done 160 miles so far. However, there's an odd noise which if it persists I think I'll have to get a second opinion on. Under mid to heavy throttle there sounds to be a pinking noise coming from the engine.

Lovely pics. Keep us posted on any issues - might be good to track them as a group of new owners on here.

My car is on the production line, due to be finished by the end of the week. smile

Mines now at port of entry.
Arrived in Southampton this morning aboard the good ship Morning Calm. The internet is an amazing thing.
There's a guy on Bimmerpost who was there to watch the ship dock knowing his BM was on it.
Ok ok that sounds a bit weird, but you cannot knock his enthusiasm for the brand/car. Ok I will get my coat......

Oh one last thing before I'm sectioned, there's lots of chat on Bimmerpost around the 340 making a pinking sound, the consensus is it's the injectors??? And normal.

I'm so excited I could burst.

Could you link me to any of the posts mentioned please? I've tried searching, but can't find anything relating to this engine. It could well be injectors, but I've not read about it anywhere yet.

There's a couple of threads on there about it that I recall reading. This one is a recent example.

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=...

I have noticed it on mine and if anything it seems to be getting a bit louder. I can understand comments that it sounds like either the exhaust or the injectors as it is a very "tinny" high frequency type of sound. Not sure whether I should be concerned or not - my previous 335i didn't make anything like this noise in over two years.....!

Hell, don't worry - it's a brand new car under warranty! Best to drive it and break it if that's what ultimately happens - there will be a recall or replacement engines available as necessary.

Yes - that's what I can hear. I'll leave it a while and see what happens, it's reassuring to know it's not a fault on my car.

Mine is produced and off to the carrier... Come on lovely beemer, come to daddy!

I have a new baby girl (12 days old) so this will be her first sporty car to go out in (I'm too tight to pay for a child seat for the 911 Turbo and the 9e exhaust might deafen her!); so looking forward to a 'getting to know you' family trip out in the 340i.

I've got those wheels on my 4 Series. Be very careful when it goes to the garage/tyre replacement, any chips to the lacquer around the wheel nuts and especially centre caps on the polished sections and the wheels will corrode like crazy.....

You've been warned!

They do look good though (or they did when new!)

It also doesn't help if you catch a curb when parking and put a 4 inch scuff along one of them either

Great looking image, not a red fan but that does look good. Helped by the twin exhausts in the correct place of course.
May get mine next week!

I've been wondering how you can spot a 340 other than the twin exhausts. I don't think you can...
