Not the Motorway, though I tend to spend nearly every day on it, but yesterday I was driving down to Key, just before the M25 turn off I passed a new M4 in black. Never in recent times has a car, especially a BMW, looked so right. Clearly distinguishable from the rebadged 418d's, the body stance is stunning. The car was just simply gorgeous. Once I tire of open sky wafting I think that one will be joining the e39 in the garage - this purchase seems to be purely based on looks at the minute, sod the actual drive!

If you were the couple driving somewhere down the m4 yesterday, around 11:00 in a stunning black M4, you are very lucky!

And they're not just great to look at!!!

Also, if you want the best looking version don't forget to spec it with the two extra doors biggrin

True,I saw a new M3 in Cotswold BMW whilst picking up parts and it struck me of the best evolution M from the e39 M5, similar size and looked purposeful. I'd just forgotten how good they look and the M4 in black just hit me with wow factor.

I think the new M3 would look epic parked alongside the e39, but it would be too similar in "mode" so would need the two door to justify it.

Anyway enjoying the xkr too much, the noise is too addictive and I dont need a point and squirt handler right now!

Hmm, you can get a new Redrow home for 1k down, 10% deposit in 6 weeks and then 600 a month. Better residuals too!

I dont do the finance game, I'm an idiot. I prefer someone to take the initial pants down spanking before I buy cash and run for a few years. I figure the depreciation is outweighed by the fun! 6k and 600 a month, is that a 2 or 3 year? What mileage limit too?

Love my M4.

Best all rounder I've had.

Docile and fuel efficient when needed. But can be a handful when provoked.

My view exactly.

That in mind I was looking at a RS6 however it works out better to buy new then used. For that reason I am off the RS6.

I am now looking for a used M6 coupe (2014) year. The first owners would have lost ste loads of cash.

By chance is it grey?

What is she like in the wet? That is my main concern! I am not a super-driver. I asked BMW for a test drive in the wet and they went quiet on me!

when buying the xkr, the seller was reluctant to let me test even when i said the purchase depended on it. Sales ploy or otherwise, i said i wont be parting with cash unless i get to drive the car. Crazy!

They're huge.

And, according to some road tests, they bite.

Not a fan.

Mind, I thought the E92 M3 looked like something that would be driven by the customers of the blue oyster club from Police Academy when that came out...smile

It will bite in the wet if you turn off the traction control and don't respect the throttle pedal. Just like any other high powered rear wheel drive car. A healthy respect is all that's required.

The only reason journos said it bites is because tc off it exposed them for the average drivers they are. All the journos that can really pedal (Harris, Sutcliffe etc) adore the m3/4.

  • real = stupid.
Public roads are not a race track.

Clearly quite a few BMW drivers are not real drivers... The number of M3's I have seen in ditches sums that up!

I actually find the car easier to control in the wet with tc off.
