So, I'm just about to pull the trigger on a '56 plate 330d M Sport touring with 108,000 on the clock.

I'm buying this as a second car (my current daily is a B7 RS4) to throw the dogs in and generally be the workhorse and keep the Audi as a weekend car.

This whole process has happened fairly quickly, so I've not had a chance to do a lot of research on BMW ownership. The car I'm looking at has recently had 2 new rear shocks, which was flagged up on the last MOT, as were the front brake hoses which have started to corrode (looking at previous MOTs on other cars I was interested in, this seems to be a fairly common issue).

Are there any other issues I need to be aware of?
If the rear shocks have needed to be done, are the fronts likely to be on their way too?
Can anyone recommend a decent BMW indy in the Coventry / South Warwickshire area (as if a BMW main dealer are anything like Audi, I don't fancy being bent over and shafted without lube).

Thanks guys

My advice would be:

1. Stop saying pull the trigger

2. Replace both main and EGR thermostats.

3. Check the inside of each alloy for cracks and repair as required.

4. Get a full 4 wheel alignment done, the E90 is sensitive to this.

5. Make sure the upper tailgate switch works.

6. Remove and extra M badge nonsense that previous owners may have added.

7. Have a proper remap carried out.

8. Make sure all service items are up to date, brake fluid etc.

Cheers f1nn -

1. How does "purchase" sound instead?
2. Will look at these, thanks.
3. As above
4. This will be first on my list - as it always is on any car I buy
5. It does - I've seen it work.
6. Luckily, there are non of these on this car.
7. Any suggestions as to reputable places in the Midlands?
8. It has a good service history. Having looked through all the paperwork it appears to have been well looked after.
