BMW 325i M sport 2011
Discussion
Hi All,
I've let my 320D M sport go and i am looking for another BMW, I'm considering petrol, I do probably less that 12K per year now, I came across a 325i E91 post LCI for the right money, has anyone got a 325i (I think its N53)?
What sort of MPG are you seen on the motorway?
Thanks,
Scott

I've got the 272ps n53 in an f10 and can very easily get 35mpg on a run. That is not trying btw. I haven't bothered trying to better it but am sure it could do 40 mpg if I really tried.
In a lighter e90 it'll be better again.
Round town I get 20 mpg but again I don't hang about.
It is no better or worse ad far as I can tell than my e46 323i but for that I get a car which is much heavier and much quicker and auto.
Cracking engine. Just watch out for injector issues which will blow any mpg savings out of the water. Much more reliable now than they used to be...

I have a 2009 325i SE Auto with the N53 engine and am a bit of a Fuelly addict so I have stats on MPG since I've owned it - circa 50,000 miles.
My best tank ever was 37.9 mpg, which was a run up from Surrey to just shy of Glasgow mostly taking it easy. Average overall is 27.4, but I do have a fairly busy daily commute across north Surrey on which I don't hang about, so others I suspect would average a bit higher.
Great cars, I had a few injector and coilpack issues early on but it's been fine since. Does need revs if you want to really move (at which point use sport mode or manual mode if you buy an Auto), but equally it's very happy wafting about day-to-day. Lovely engine note too, and worth enjoying whilst you can still buy a six-cylinder petrol engine in an everyday saloon, they are sadly becoming a rare option these days.

I'm buying a Z4 at the weekend with this 2.5i lump following a lengthy testdrive last weekend.
On the testdrive I averaged 26mpg, but that was what you might call a fairly "spirited" drive on country roads, fast dual carriageways and lots of quick getaways from roundabouts. I fully expect to see around 32mpg on my more normal commute to work.
But do drive one - the sound is sublime from these I6 Petrols. After a long time away from the I6 E46s I owned, it's a pleasure going back to one and as one poster said - they're not going to be around in the future, so enjoy them now.

The N53 in the later 325i is actually a 3.0. I think yours will be 2.5 N52 - Is it an Sdrive 23i?On the testdrive I averaged 26mpg, but that was what you might call a fairly "spirited" drive on country roads, fast dual carriageways and lots of quick getaways from roundabouts.
