Not my words but those of my good lady. No intention to be controversial here as all part of my decision making process.

The latest TT performance stats are really impressive

The Z4 has the hard top/open top option and really good value right now. I had the previous model 10 years ago.

Both sound cars, cheaper to buy than a Cayman. Im truly considering both along with the Cayman.

Id welcome a view of anyone who has gone through these considerations and what decision was ultimately made and why.

Well this is what I picked - amazing cars, and you have to weigh them up. I looked at the TT I liked audis have an A6 and these go well if a little wooden on the road. The Z4 just drives so much better, the rear wheel drive gives it a great feeling - the Audi either fwd or 4wd the steering gets corrupted. However the Z has that unbiased steering feel.

Old mans car ? or ladies car ? pffft just let the comments wash off your back. its your toy and if it gives you fun then dont let the comments worry you.

enjoy your choice and more importantly have fun with what ever you choose. Just dont get the 19" wheels on the Z and junk the runflats - you will thank me.

Z4s cover a lot of bases - any 2.0 is probably a hairdresser car!

Might be why the E86 Coupe only came in 3.0 Si or M format - because the front was attached to the back by the roof as well as the floor!

But I am biased, so surely time for gratuitous photos:-

Then again by most people's perspectives I am probably quite old!laugh

3.0 litre Z4 is a wonderful car IMHO.

I never even considered a TT - they reportedly drive like any other Audi, i.e. front heavy, monstrous understeer, etc.

I went the Porsche TT route before deciding on a Z4 Roadster for my weekend car. The reasons I discounted the TT been there done that for 5 years in 2003 till 2008. When it came to the Porsche for what I wanted to pay £15 k tops it boiled down to the problems with a lot of the higher mileage cars ie bore score and the bearing issues. If your budget runs to later cars 2010 onwards most of the engine fears with the Boxster and Cayman are non existent.

I went for a Z4 coupe. If nothing else, getting in and out of the car will rule most old men out! I'm 33 and absolutely love it. The engine is glorious and it just looks so retro. Really do enjoy it.

Yes, Z4C is not for old people! I took my Mum out today in mine and if getting in was a struggle, getting out was a battle - mind you she is 94!

The N52 engine is fantastic, and styling is marvellous - it's the E-Type Coupe I always promised myself when I was at primary school, but which I will never afford this side of a lottery win!

But still the Z4C is quicker, probably better to drive and less rusty than any E-Type so I'm not sure I'm missing much!
