A sensibly mapped 335i is a fairly docile thing, you'd have to be fairly cack handed to get into bother.

There's a reason why I don't have the e46 anymore and it's not because I sold it....

Apparently so... All 122hp of it.

I have just paid a deposit on a '59 335i M Sport Manual in sapphire black. Pick it up Saturday so may need to add some picks to the top thread. Happy days

Hi first time on forum I have a e46 330i Msport which I'm selling !But just bought e92 335i auto triptronic with paddles ,good points comparing with my 46 m are e92 feels as quick as M3e46 this thing is quick !Its a2006 se with sport settings suspension ,but I agree with post about steering it's not as glued to the road and hands it's got less feel ,It's only done 67K and its black with 19 inch normal tyres CSL wheels .Not so good points my e46 330i turns out 24.6 mpg but if you run the e92 cold say journeys about 30 min at a time it's 19.7 if you use it oil temp 80c it's 22.8 about price mine is a cat c so I got it for 5200 and as it's got I drive I could check all brakes oil service and as its only probably had 2 services plus first one ,as it only has one key and no paperwork ,but I checked Gov for mot millage ,and what it needed to pass ,just tyres broken wheels cracked ,I guess that's why it's on 19s normal tyres but overall. If it wasn't the 335i turbos if it was a 330 I would be thinking about keeping my e46 its Orient blue lovely rare colour alcantara sports seats manual box 135K 2002 new wings to fit ! So it's a hard one oh !!and road tax 330i 285 year e92 275 for 6 months ouch

Totally agree, 335i is next level of performance. 22.7 was my average over 25k miles so you are doing good. I had N54 but it was DCT.

Enjoy the performance !

I was in your position a couple of years back and decided I wanted a 330 msport manual e92. Found a real nice one owner car for £6500 back then, which was a bit of a bargain as it had 100k on the clock.

Used it for 2 years and loved it. So much car for the money. Plenty of grunt, sure it's not a 335, but still has 272bhp 6 cylinder, so fruity enough. Get rid of the run flats and it massively improved things.

It was tight as a drum, never missed a beat and I only sold it (for more than I got it for 18 months earlier) because I'm buying a house now.

Wait for the right one and you can't go wrong.

Also, for what it's worth the 330 is noticeably punchier than a 325. Ignore anyone who says there's not much in it.

Does the efficient dynamics in the revised N54 make such a difference to economy? My 2010 N54 has averaged 27mpg over 1,800 miles using manual calculations. The economy you're both quoting is lower than the 24mpg I averaged over 15,000 miles in my 645Ci with a huge thirsty V8 in it. Maybe I don't drive mine hard enough!

Yours is probably N55 from 2010, shouldn't make a massive difference, but yes mine is driven for spirited drives or short drives so thats why economy is as it is i assume

Definitley an N54,I'd put my neck on the line and say the N55 never made it to a Z4 for the 35i. Could be wrong.

Perhaps I don't drive fast enough eh!

Gents I thought I'd update.

I didn't like the interior of the e92. It looks great but I think I wanted some old school Beemer feel which was lacking. Also to be honest I came to the conclusion I was going to push it financially in order to get the car I wanted. So I looked at a e46 330i sport on Thursday and loved the car, but there were many things wrong with it and the trader whilst nice, wasn't honest.

I decided to give one more e46 a chance so I drove home and went on a day trip to look at a car with my mum. Haven't seen her in a couple of months so I thought I'd better bring her along and we could grab a pub lunch and a nice walk in the countryside regardless of the car purchase.

The car turned out to be perfect.
The dealer wanted 3759 for it, but as it was due a service and the MV alloys needed the obvious (they are Kurb magnets) I got it down to 3400. I think it's a lot of money for a 2002 car, but I couldn't find a better car for less so I'm content.

Oh, every optional extra was ticked. Harmon kardon sound with heated seats and ice cold air con is such a revelation.
Did I mention the roof comes off?
RR thread to follow.

Good choice, I know what you like about old school E46 interior, you sit lower iand you are angled better towards instrumentation. Old school is good wink
Enjoy!

Looks very tidy. I don't think that's too strong for a nice convertible 330.

One of the things that puts me off more recent BMWs is the interior. I like the e36, e39, e46 interiors, but the more recent ones look designed to look smart without functionality for the driver. I've always loved wraparound dashes so although I am thinking it's probably going to have to be an e90 it makes be sad as they are very clinical cars IMHO.

Very nice 330i! Seems like cracking value for a great motor if all is as should be.

I found found the E90 interior very spec dependent. I sat in a 335i se without iDrive and it was very bland. Not terrible, just not interesting. I then sat in an M Sport with iDrive and it is a much nicer place to be. Leather sport seats and black headlining smarten up the cabin no end (in my view) and the widescreen display makes it seem more modern. Having said that I'm used to a SEAT Leon, so I'm also used to blandness though!
