Afternoon all,

Had a letter turn up from Coopers to say that they are running a Cost Price Offer in June. Says that they are offering all new BMW models from group stock at cost price (except X4, X5, X6 and all M models).

I have no idea what sort of price their cost price is, or what sort of discount this gives, but thought it might interest some.

Also no idea how this would compare to any of the other sites/dealers that supply new BMWs.

The true cost price will surprise a lot of people, they don't get them as cheap as you think.

You've simply received a marketing flyer/letter.

Cost/invoice price is not the price the dealer actually pay. They'll have rebates for volume of sales, add-ons, manufacturer contributions, etc. which may take 10-30% off that cost price.

Exactly. Dealers should be stopped from referring to cost price - it's deliberately misleading.

Anyone got an example of an actual price quoted by them?

I bought a pre-registered 123d from their Croydon branch back in January 2008 and it was such a painful experience I would avoid them at all costs!

The only reason I persevered was because I decided (foolishly) that a 123d was the car for me! rolleyes and the 123d only came out in September 07. This one was advertised in December 07 - the only one on the BMW used car website at the time, so no real choice (other than to order a new one)!

No naming and shaming, but I wouldn't ever go back to them and would recommend avoiding them!

Who knows though, Reading may be better but what do they mean by "cost price"?

I may be cynical, but it sounds like a mail-shot to drag people in so they can meet a sales target.............! Are they offering a free coffee and cake? laugh

That's exactly what it is, the same as the VIP events and the "Man from the manufacturer is in the dealership today and authorised to give A MAZE ING discounts" days

Their quarter will be ending soon so they want to bump up their figures.

Work on about 10% plus free service pack, you better off with a pre reg car depending on model & spec etc.

I was looking at 1 series and went to a previous Coppers event, not A great deal really.

I find it amazing that they send out these bullst emails. IMO it is insulting our intelligence to suggest that we will be taken in by this "cost" price nonsense.

Might be insulting the intelligence of PHers, but I am sure they will get plenty of dopes there regardless so it works for them I suppose!

As they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch! laugh
