Morning all, last week the rear passenger side dropped down on it's suspension.

Turned the car on, compressor whirred into action and the suspension was back to normal.

Now the suspension hasn't dropped again since. Just wondered if anyone else has had a random drop and what might have caused it.

3rd row seating? If so and like mine, they have air suspension on the rear. The airbags perish over time/use and require replacing. At my last service, the indy noted mine were perished but could last anywhere between a day and 10 years. An exaggeration perhaps but it's difficult to know when they will let go. On my car, the compressor kicks in to top up when I turn off the car about once, maybe twice, per week.

If you are DIY minded, here is a very good write up on a DIY change. Not sure on current part prices. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/x5-e70-foru...

Nope, no 3rd row of seats, but def air suspension. BMW have quoted £650 to replace just the one. Gits.
