I've had my Z4C since late May. It's my only car and has been driven a lot since then. Has all the attributes that have been covered already and I haven't thought of anything to change imminently, apart from the RTFs. I can also fit my road bike in the boot (58cm frame, seat post and wheels stowed under the frame) with two dufflebags for a weekend.

For what it's worth mine cost 12k at 43k from BMW AUC, full history (sold by and always serviced at the dealership I bought it from) and 1 year warranty.

I wonder how the roof mechanism would hold up to never being used - as it's a fairly complex system to have if I'm never going to drive with the roof down.
Pretty well I'd have thought - I have a Z4M and have no intention of ever driving it with the roof up. I've just been out and tested it after three years of being retracted and works fine... For what it's (also) worth, I have just ordered a M140i to replace a manual 5 series with the same 3.0i as the Z4 3.0Si Coupe - I didn't like the engine in the 5 much as it felt weedy and characterless. Go for the M135i - much more characterful engine, and quicker. I've ordered mine with a sunroof which I have no intention of ever closing - but I expect if you find one with a sunroof and never open it, the mechanism will also be fine

I'm coming to live in your part of the country, it sounds like the tropics....either that or your cars must be rather damp and mouldy!

£14K does seem like a high price for a Z4C, even with such low mileage!

2 years ago I bought one with FSH (by BMW) and 54,000 miles for less than £10K!

Trying to decide if the one quoted is too dear, or if I got a really good deal? Or are they going up in value?

But at the end of the day, is mileage really that crucial so long as the car has been looked after?

Whatever, a Z4C is a great drive! driving
I think there is a big difference between the mileage starting with a 3 or as with yours a 5 if someone wants a low mileage car.

14k is a bit rich looks better at something like £12,750 which is what I'd value my sub 40k one owner individual Z4C at, whether I'd get that or not is a different matter.

Have a look on Autotrader and you will see that good, but not exceptional, cars are £12-13k. Low mileage cars with top spec can be £16k or more.

Thanks, I would have paid more for one like yours but I'm not sure I would have added 30+% for a mileage starting with a 3 instead of a 5 (and that is based on your figure, not £14K)! To be honest with silly low mileage you can get issues just from lack of use, as a mate of mine who deals in classic cars keeps telling me!

BTW mine was also an Individual (Ruby Black) and only 2 owners (+pre-registered).

Anyway, apologies for the thread digression OP!

Just signed up this little number, was running up too many miles on the 987 Boxster (First world problems)

It gets more attention than the PP ,disgust / What is it ? etc. To add to that I'd say the steering is a bit 'wooden',but compared to a boxster perhaps that's a bit unfair. In all other respects it's great to rag around (straight 6 sound is immense with stock exhaust). I'm going to live with it just fine !!

This is starting to turn into a Z4C appreciation thread!

So I might as well add a gratuitous photo!

You wouldn't want to pay more than I did as I was the fool who paid 37k for it nearly ten years ago (so I'm well under the water) hehe

Yes I agree on the not being used can equal trouble but people pay more for a low mileage car so long as that mindset persists a car with nearly 50% more miles on it as in the example we're discussing will be worth quite a bit less.

Actually, you've done pretty well.

From a purchase price of £37k to a value of at least £13k now (probably more), you depreciation is £2.4k per year, or £200 per month.

Yep I've worked it out like that, amortise that number!

TBH I lost 25k in 12 months on an F10 M5, so the Z4C is a bargain! They really are lovely cars the Zed I'm always finding new little details and cuts/angles on it.

I understand completely - in January 2008 I bought a pre-registered 123d for £22.5K which I managed to sell in July 2014 after about 81K miles for £6.6K. eek!

And that was when I discovered straight 6 N/A petrol loveliness...................!

On the upside at least you never had a tractor! thumbup

Go on then. I came from a Z3M to this and found the handling night and day in comparison!

Has anyone come from a 996 to a Z4C, and have any comparisons?
