Just to chime in I have the same thing with my N53 330i which shares much of the joy with the N54. Latest injectors and HPFP but fault persists. Still tracking mine down, one injector replaced so far which has helped. Threads like this give me hope although not when all six injectors and coils need replacing. Bring back port injection.

Just had one injector replaced on mine. Still giving issues. Found that the clip that retains the wiring loom on the coil was not securing.

Replaced the coil and it seems to be fine now. Just got a few misfires coming up on other cylinders so tonight its getting a full set of coils. Would look into that. Was a bosch coil with a faulty molding

2012 n53 here just had all six injectors replaced at 40k miles.

If you pop the plugs out after the car has been sat overnight any that are wet with petrol have a corresponding injector fault. The injectors leak.

Personally I think piezo crystals are not robust enough though I thought they'd been used in diesel for years. Direct injection sprays multiple times in stratified mode so it might just be a longevity thing too - they are firing more often than traditional injectors.

Glad you got it sorted mate.

I finally have a working car. 6 injectors, 6 plugs, oil and filter, air filter and microfilter later and I am on the road again.

I'm broke now though.... £1900 for the above but at least the car had been given a clean bill of health by BMW and my Mondial warranty kicks in on Saturday so happy days from here on in hopefully. I will still be seeking my money back from Prestige cars of Bristol though... oops...
My initial thought was HPFP but there are plenty of problems with the N54 that cause misfires and idle issues! I've had them all at some point.

If BMW replaced the injectors you may want to double check they fitted the decoupling elements (you can do this visually without removing the injectors, just the engine cover). The car will run without them but further down the line you may get misfires and if you are really unlucky the injectors will cause damage to the head due to moving around in their holes. I had BMW screw up the install of the injectors TWICE!

Obligatory google crawler text:

It's a shame that dealers such as Prestige Cars of Bristol (www.prestigecarsofbristol.co.uk) are completely untrustworthy.

Prestige Cars of Bristol, really do have a terrible reputation. Selling dodgy cars and ignoring their legal obligations.

STEVEN LOHIA of Prestige Cars of Bristol should really sort this out rather than ignore the problem.

Thanks for the heads up, I shall take a gander!

Yes it is helpful to add that prestige cars of Bristol are so dangerous and untrustworthy. Really wish everyone could be warned that they were also previously known as Motortrust

Such a shame that prestige cars of Bristol really don't care about the safety of their customers either and sell dodgy motors.

I've looked at cars there before and nearly made a purchase, Im glad i didnt now.

Hope for your sake that you can get something out of them. Being lumped with a bill of that size on a new car would destroy me. I was lucky that my dealer paid for my injector and other faults smile

I had my car sorted by the BMW dealer in Lincoln. My problem was the injectors that needed replacing and cost just shy of £2k

What year is his car?
