How about
Boxster S 987
Jag XKR coupe new shape 4.2 v8
XFR 5.0 V8 supercharged
E92 M3
E46 MS CS
SL 55 K AMG
E39 M5
Pug 205 1.9 GTI
Etc.
I'd say those rose tinted are glued on if you seriously think nothing under £20k is better PH disagrees.
Bar the E46 M3 how many of those cars at under £20k would actually be a good buy? When I was looking (out of interest) a decent E92 M3 is still around £25-30k. My old Golf GTi cost me £20k 2 years ago and they are now knocking around the £15k mark, so that's what I'd buy over the 130. Not sure OP would want to switch from the 130i to a 2.0 turbo with less hp though and FWD. A mk6 R could be a good shout though.Boxster S 987

You'd have to be bonkers to consider a 25-30 year old 205 or even a Cossie as a daily driver....IMHO.
The only one on that list that could compare to a 130i would be the Boxster possibly, and then only if the practicality of the 130i wasn't an issue, which it probably is, hence the poster saying what he did.
Crazy to think though that 25 years ago people used them for exactly that.....sporty daily drivers that could transport friends/kids/go on hols in/fetch shoppingThe only one on that list that could compare to a 130i would be the Boxster possibly, and then only if the practicality of the 130i wasn't an issue, which it probably is, hence the poster saying what he did.
It's really only
a. Fear of depreciation
B. sourcing hard to get parts
C. Worrying about corrosion/old wiring
That would stop you using them now for the same
You're right though, there aren't many similar things that will take a family of 4 other than larger model BMs

Wow they seem to be holding up well. Wonder what my Jan 08 130 is worth with 34k on the clock. Pretty good nick and garaged and just me as the owner. Any thoughts as I've had it a long time so maybe time for a change if the price is right.
What's the spec?PM me if you like, I miss mine and fancy another...
