I bought a Z4 a short while ago with the low pad brake warning light on.
Fitted new pads but the old sensor fell apart so i bridged the to wires together untill the new sensor comes.
But the light is still on, rear pads are fine with plenty of life left in them.
Any ideas how to turn it off?
Cheers.

Not familiar but could it be an ABS issue? Worth a check I suppose.

Wouldn't that be a different light?

The two wires need to be separated when in the healthy ( ie warning light out ) .position. The new pad wear sensor has separated wires inserted and when the pad/ sensor wear down the metal disc bridges across the two wires to illuminate warning light. It looks like that's what you have done by connecting wires...hope this helps.

You should have replaced the wear sensor at the same time as the pads, and it should have been included in the box with the replacement pads. If I've read your post right you've bridged the wires in the lead to the sensor which would signal the pad is fully worn. The indicator lamp wont go out till you carry out the reset process, I think it's here: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8373...

I've done similar but on an E39 and that was a different process.

Just posted about similar on my BMW, except mines now red

Are you saying the wires have to be separate now? Everywhere I've read, it says twist them together with tape

Either replaced sensor or seperated or twisted together wires you need to clear the warning light manually, the on board electronics won't do it for you

Strange, I have done e36 & e39 brakes before & not needed to do anything special to reset the pad wear sensors.

You only have to do it if the wear indicator has illuminated on the dashboard

I've twisted the wires together and the red warning is still on. Tried the onboard reset, pushing and holding the milometer switch until the service indicator comes up, then press BC button, but when I try and reset, it says _ _ _ _ _ next to where the mileage should be.
Tried using BMWcarly to reset and that fails too

Sticks.
