Hello all

I was at a local dealer earlier today and we were spec'ing my potential new car. I set up a previous thread about getting a 340i Touring but I'm now moving towards a 440i Gran Coupe but still undecided.

Anyway, we discussed the Power and Sound kit upgrade. Fortunately for me there happens to be a deal on! Power upgrade to 255bhp plus an audibly spicy new exhaust fitted for £1,700 + VAT. Does that sound reasonable? So, I asked him to write down, on the new vehicle quotation, that cost plus the cost without the discount.

Power kit - £2,745 + VAT + Fitting (£800)
Exhaust - £1,434 + VAT + Fitting (£375)

Of course, this sounds like an absolute bargain for anyone who is vaguely interested! But it does seem like an unusually large discount from BMW plus an awfully large amount of money for that upgrade at full cost.

Anyone else bought this, what did they pay and is it worth it?

Thanks

I daresay remaps will become available shortly which will offer more significant power and torque increases for less money; however, if you want to maintain the BMW warranty and want both items I think £2k fitted for the performance kit and exhaust sounds reasonable.

ETA: I assume the 255bhp was a typo and you meant 355bhp?!

Thanks, JNW. I also thought it sounded reasonable.
Oops, yes it was a typo. I meant 355bhp. smile

Hello there,

I've had my 440i GC for 3 months now and 4k on the clock... really interested to know if you went for the MPK and what you roughly paid for it as I am considering it... the other factor is.. if you put it in comfort will it stop the mad popping when sneaking down past my elderly neighbors.. I want the raucous attack when waving goodbye to the RS crew!

It would be great to know if they just did the power boost without the sound as an option.

Cheers

I am also interested in this as I am on verge of ordering a 440i GC to replace my current M135i (which has the MP exhaust but standard power).

How are you finding the 440i?

Hi Typhoon

I paid the £1,700 + VAT (£2,040) in the end although I still haven't got the car. It's due to be delivered in the first week of Dec. I'll let you know when it arrives if you can wait that long... I know I can't! There are quite a few videos on YouTube that might help; search for MPPSK. I believe you won't hear the popping in comfort but couldn't say for sure. Fingers crossed it won't because my missus will go mental if it does!

I didn't ask if they just did the power pack I'm afraid.

With the MPE, that white car sounds pretty much like my M135i.

Although in the Cooper video, the black one almost sounds like a big diesel idling!?

Yeah, not sure what's going on with the black one, I agree it doesn't quite sound as good for some reason. I need to hear it in the flesh.
