Just been out and noticed the rear tyres on our E91 are getting close to the wear bars, so I want to get them changed.

Not planning to dump the run flats - they're OK for us. 225/45/17 - and at the moment, we've got Continental Sport Contact all round. They seem quite reasonably priced these days - about £200 for a pair fitted (last time I bought a pair, I think it set me back £300!).

For those that use runflats, what are you fitting these days? Are Continental Sport Contact still a good option - because I noticed that Goodyear Eagle are about the same price?

Edit: just noticed there's a thread further down about runflats (I searched for tyres, but didn't try runflats - doh!). But never the less, if anyone has some feedback on whether Continental runflats are OK, would appreciate it smile

Mine was on conti run flats. Same as yours.

I found the ride to be quite harsh. But the worse part was the tramlining - absolutely terrible to the point of being dangerous!

Put not run flat michelins on it now and it is totally transformed. The ride is a bit less harsh and tramlining has vanished.

Can't comment on other brands of run flats, but my 2p worth

Oh? Risky? Lost faith in the super duper gunk you filled your tyres with? wink

Not at all its too far away now to get it put it in...sadly as it saved me a few months ago great big nail drove 100 plus miles no problem till I got new tyre plus one that was worn and got the ultraseal put in both again but it was a 4 hour round trip. The fronts are on the way out so I will try these new run flats

Good luck

Fair enough. They will come out to you, you know, and there are plenty of similarly 'effective' products that you can put in yourself.

So how did you know you had the great big nail in your tyre?

Anyway, good luck with the latest generation runflats; I'm sure they'll be fine. I might try those when I need to but my 530's still on its originals after 28000 miles.

My SLK, on ordinary tyres, has two new rears following a puncture that wouldn't seal with the Mercedes goop. C'est la vie!

REALIST whatt happened was the run flat monitor warned me the tyre was losing air(cant remember proper name) drove around 100 miles on it.Now to be honest i was at first dissapointed that the tyre hadnt stayed inflated but the tyre shop showed me tbe big nail right on the shoulder. In the blurb ultraseal say on the shoulder youve had it but infact it worked just like a runflat in thatv nstance so that was reassuring to be fair

I fancied a set of these but I've heard they don't do them in a 255 35 18 and have no plans to.

I've had an e92 on bridgestone re002's - basically like driving on wheels of concrete, and I now have an e91 on Michelin Pilot Sport ZP's. They're a vast improvement, but ultimately the ride is still too hard.

Has anyone tried the Hankook runflats?

Just away to replace Run Flat Bridgestone on F30 (45,000 miles) granted a bit hard but changed the suspension which helped so no complaints with the 19" Bridgestones.

Wondering what folks would recommend as a winter tyre size of wheel to go down to. Run flat or not.
