Looks great in red.
Very refreshing to see one that's not white or E blue.

Does this look a good deal or is there better around?

http://www.sytner.co.uk/bmw/new-offers/1-series/m1...

I assume these prices are standard se car and would probably want either sport or msport but cant add too much surely!

Very expensive, you can get £5-6k off with CarWow or similar or lease for cheaper.

Those prices are for an M140i. That just comes in M-sport flavour. Pretty decent kit as standard too.

That seems to include a £6k deposit contribution (AKA discount) for a base spec car.

I suspect that once you've added a few options it's possible to get that discount a bit higher to take away some of the sting.

Personally i wouldn't touch one of these without:
adaptive dampers
auto box
pro nav
sun protection package

Would want the auto version, and the pro nav.

With the sun protection and chassis though?

Does it make it a better car or are you thinking for resale value, which im not bothered about because on pcp?

personally i think they look better with the privacy glass. and my last one was a manual with standard m-sport suspension and both the gearbox and ride were pretty rubbish and not in the same league as that glorious engine. i would imagine an auto with adaptive would be a proper little weapon

Thanks for that. Will nip in and talk options with them. Still not found a better deal than this for a personal buyer if anyone can recommend something better please let me know.

The auto 'box is nice, its just like 1 long gear - great around town, but a bit dull. Paddles are yet to make much sense to me - I'll have more of a play once its run in.

I dont have adaptive suspension - I do wish I'd held out for it though, not for the ride but because the idrive still brings up the options for the 'sports chassis' whenever you go into sports mode... which is annoying as I dont have it!

I'd definitely have the adaptive, and auto, but also the M Performance brakes, not the blue M Sport plus, but the bigger ones to make it stop as well as it goes. 3 door, and with the MP exhaust too, it'd be nice. As above, don't see so many in Red.

Lovely cars chaps.A boring question, but how practical are they as a daily driver especially in respect of boot space for a couple of dogs?
Was leaning towards a 340,but I'm really thinking of maybe getting something a little smaller.Anyone got one with a sunroof as I love my pano roof and I was curious as to whether the sunroof option is a traditional type or glass panel with blind.

You might want to ask your German main dealer to get 20% off. At least that's what they offered in September.
Thanks for the data point. And kudos for getting that much out of them. Not bad at all!

No. Closer to £25k and probably a bit less if you play your cards right.
Jeez, very good value IMO. Did a quick comparison for a spec which I'd like => UK buy would be EUR 30k i.e. EUR 7k cheaper than local. At the current exchange rate at least, and assuming a UK dealer would offer a similar discount for a LHD order.

@Maxf: sorry for the slight thread derailment smile. Hope you enjoy the new toy!

Coast2Coast & TRL (see BabyBMW forum) will both do better, so unless you want to do the business with a local/very local dealer and maybe have a trade-in that gets a much higher figure from the dealer in question, you should look at either of those options.

TRL has very good service thrown in for good measure & C2C you can build a quote print off and ask your local to match (you could also do the same with Mr T, but a little less than good form smile).

The Brakes aren't too bad as they are, although there is definitely room for improvement - BMW wanted something like £3k to add the performance brakes, which was getting on for 10% of the value of the car, so I decided I'd just press harder, same goes for the nicer wheels I'd very much have liked wink

Adaptive seemed to just make the car softer in 'comfort', rather than firm it up more in 'sport'. That didnt bother me too much - although I'd probably spec it if I was buying another one. It's not a lot of money and nice to have the option on the rutted tracks I drive on (central London).

Does anybody know if the MP exhaust is valved - so still quiet when in comfort mode?

That setting on your car still adjusts the throttle response/steering weight so that setting still does make a difference.

I have adaptive suspension on mine and it does take a bit of the harshness out of the ride but to be honest that's about it. Pushing the car on a smooth road you would notice little if any difference in comparison to non adaptive.

The standard brakes are more than up to the task, i've done a two hour track night in mine with not even a single sign of brake fade and could outbrake a lot of other cars on track easily.

I have passive suspension on mine. Absolutely fine and don't think its a MUST HAVE option.

Love it - smart and understated - the perfect 'sleeper'! I'd have to have the mirror caps matched to the body colour though - they look totally out-of-place in silver, or maybe that's just my designer OCD coming out.
I agree - I hate mirrors being in a different colour, though I am not a designer. If I had one I would be trying to make it look as vanilla as possible

Close to putting an order in for one of these, keep swapping between Valencia Orange and the Red! Those photos aren't helping, looks great.
