Afternoon all

I've just been to Halfords under the impression I required their 35w H8 bulb - the guy said it was an LED and they didn't stock it; I would need to go to the main dealer.

The internet seems to think it is a bulb that Halfords stock - has anyone on here had this? If they indeed don't, is there a way round going to the dealer?

Thanks

I think you are correct, this is for Xenons:

E61s never had LED DRLs to my knowledge. If it's an LCI (post March 2007-ish), a 35W H8 bulb as mentioned above is what is required. I had to replace a couple on my E61. It's a tight fit to get behind there, but it can be done.

Thanks for replies. It is LCI, 58 plate. Was it the guy just being lazy? I'll ring the store near work tomorrow and see what they say.

Before you do this try and take out the bulb so you know which one you need. I have the same year E61 with the same fault right now. Some of these 58 plate 5 series can be affected by the change over to LCI. For example mine looks like it has xenons if you look at the headlamp. Take the bulb out and its a halogen. There are 2 or 3 types of the bulb youre looking for , assuming its the "angel eye" bulb that is not working ?
This is whats in mine -

You may indeed have a H8 , but if its the same as the one in the photo above they're not quite as easy to get quickly.
BMW have quoted me £65 for a pair, Eurocarparts want £45 a pair, using voucher code sale25.

A little trick, I used to own a e60, don' buy the BMW bulb, its just a fancy casing around one of these.

Use a screwdriver and prise out the old one and drop the new one in, cost £1.70.
