So having been stung before in my old e60 with a timing chain fail I have been thinking of extending the 24 month auc warranty. Problem is fully comp with no excess is £100 a month! Drive line with £250 excess is £45 a month

Should I extend or risk it? Do these have ropey engines?

Can't comment on the engines but I decided to continue with the warranty on my 2011 E89 zed 4 which seemingly includes recovery for peace of mind . I've used warrany direct for previous cars but there quote was twice the price of BMW so easy choice I m o .

It has the same engine as your E60... well, probably.

Have you looked at Warranty direct etc as an option?

I'd extend the warranty - isnt Mondial the company behind the BMW warranty and offer an almost identical one cheaper?

I am sure someone will confirm or deny.

Also, i'd keep a close eye on the oil levels and top up regularly, also with my sons 09 120D, we keep the car serviced by a BMW main dealer, but have an oil and filter change done in between.
