F20 118D Gear Stick Vibration

Hi,

Looking at a 118D, 63 plate with 10k on it. GGear stick rattles at idle, quite noticeably, the dealer says it's normal for them to do that. Is he right? Is it just a characteristic of the car?

My 2011 118d does it, and its just had a new clutch & dual mass flywheel so i wouldn't worry.

Yes it is normal.

The 8 speed auto solves the problem, and also BMWs tendency to have jerky clutch actions and notchy gears.

That's where my money would go.
