Well, I'm whinging again, just drove my car back from rugby to leicester on the m1, not bad conditions at all really, around 4.5 degrees, mild wind, not the best surfaced motorway, struggled to keep the damn thing in a straight line, pulling me all over the bloody road ☹️️☹️️☹️️ I'm convinced it shouldn't be this bad, considering booking it in for intensive road test.

Docsteve – I agree to the point where I wonder if it’s me as I rarely drive at night unless it’s on lit streets. The tyres are checked and controlled with the efficiency and discipline of a military operation, currently running 38psi front and 41psi rear. Could be geo, am just in the process of booking it in now.

Osinjak – tell me about it!! My E92 on 19’s with standard bridgestone runflats was atrocious!! Much better once changed to MPSS but still a hard ride.

One thing I did notice the other day is some moisture in my passenger side front tyre when I was checking the pressures, god know how it has got in there. Spoke to my pal at sytner and he says excessive moisture can cause an imbalance at speed but he’s never seen it before on a brand new car with brand new tyres. Anybody else had this problem?

When my car went in to have a new transfer box, I had a 520d SE AUTO loaner for a few days, it held a much much more stable straight line when cruising than my car did the other night.

I don't want to speak too soon but it looks like the Gummi-Pledge has done the trick. It would seem that using silicone based cleaning products has nothing to do with it as my car came back squeeking and creeking as bad as it's ever been after just having the window seals replaced under warranty.

Reg ACS springs on Ebay, if I do have this done, i'd buy them brand new for the sake of £300 and piece of mind with ACS warranty etc, thanks for the offer though.

What's peoples your opinion of the standard LED headlights that come on the LCI F30/31 now guys? I would say decent but not as good as the xenons I had on my E92, especially the range when on full beam.

Was out on country lanes last night in the dark, really poor.

I didn't spec the headlight washers mind so am wondering if this might have something to do with it. Wer'e better in the summer but still not as good as E92 xenons, they're probably the best headlights I've ever had.

Thanks for that Leithen.

I've noticed they've gotten quite a bit worse in the winter so is prob down to the filthy roads at the minute and not speccing the washer jets (DOH). I don't doo much driving at night these days other than on lit streets so isn't the end of the world, will just give them a wipe when next required.

  • *NEWSFLASH***
How many of you were aware that the F30 and F31 M sport can be (since launch too as far as I’m aware) specified without runflat tyres? Neither was I until a few weeks ago, this is because it is extremely poorly documented in the BMW literature. I’d imagine those of you that paid/are considering paying a pretty penny to retrofit the better non runflat tyres would be interested to know this and maybe voice your complaints/opinions to BMW customer services. I’m currently pursuing a complaint at this time.
18" V-spoke Orbit Grey Style 398 alloy wheels with mixed per £ 165.00 – these come fitted with Michelin pilot super sport tyres as standard.

Hi verysideways,

It appears that the M sport plus package comes with 2x 19" wheel options so no.

That's not really the point I'm getting at though, I find it unfathomably Ludacris that BMW offer an opt out of run flat tyres option yet don’t document it in their literature, it’s almost like a secret and especially considering that the high majority of us enthusiast types deem runflat tyres to be the bane of our lives. If I’d of known about this option, I’d of almost definitely specified it when I ordered my F31 335d.

Tell me about it. If you look at used M140i's etc, all dealers spec their demo's with run flats!! Sacrilege!!

Thanks for the info guys.

Yes, I’d of liked the PS4’s as it looks like they’re a better all-round tyre but they’re not BMW approved whereas the PSS are.

PS4S’s are supposed to be awesome hey, only available in 19” and above though unfortunately. I’m on 18” M sport alloys.

Guys,

Quick update - After much correspondence with my local dealer and BMW customer services etc I had a new steering rack fitted under warranty about 4-5 months ago. This definitely improved handling and felt far less vague than before. Much tighter.

About a month ago, I had fitted 4x MPSS star marked XL tyres fitted - I would say i am now extremely happy with the way the car handles, defo night and day better. Works much better with the adaptive suspension too. My confidence n the car is higher than it's ever been and i drove by far the hardest I've ever driven it a couple of sundays ago.

I will never have Run Flat Tyres again.
