Hi all, I've just bought an E91 325i, and it seems to have an old version of idrive (brown background). Is this possible to self update or can indys do it, or is it a dealer only job? Any idea of cost involved would be great if anyone has done this recently?

Cheers,

Z

IIRC, I did my wife's f20 with a download to a usb stick, which was then transferred to the car via the port under the arm rest.

You have CCC iDrive. You can upgrade to the later CIC system which has a built in hard drive for music/nav etc. but it's quite a costly option. Also has iPhone control and USB input. Budget approx. £1,000 for an update to be installed. A good independent can do it as BMW probably wouldn't be interested. Hopefully ebay link below works.

Higgs boson already has CIC, so the update he refers to isn't an option until get CIC installed. There are no updates for CCC.

There are lots of updates for all ecus on the E91, including the I Drive.

My CCC is dead and needs repairing. It is £400 to repair or now I could upgrade to a CIC for £800...... Hmmmmm

Well, technically yes, but there are no software updates to do what OP wants to achieve. My 2006 car has all updates to 2013 but I didn't notice any difference to functionality.
