I've been having a look through the options list for the 440i and 340i and have noticed one of the wheel options comes with "performance tyres and BMW mobility system".

Nice to have a factory fit option to ditch run flats, but does anyone know what they mean by performance tyre? Normal top-end summer tyres, or something more focused like the Michelin PSS?

Live chat don't know and are getting back to me, but thought I'd see if the collective PH wisdom can beat them to the answer wink

If it has the mobility system it will be their package for reinflating flat tyres if it is the same as the E46 M3's M Mobility system.

Thanks, I'm aware that if you ditch the run flats you need the tyre goop and that's what the mobility system is, my question's about the tyres.

It will be a proper performance tyre, like MPSS although they are being replaced , so what you might have I don't know.

Remove "performance" and replace with "non run-flat" and it'll make more sense. Looking at the new BMWs even the run-flats aren't from one supplier - I suspect they buy a large batches from various manufacturers and just fit what's available at the time.

So we're saying the "BMW mobility system" is a £5 can of expanding foam from the Munich branch Screwfix with a £95 label on (+Vat, PDI and Delivery no doubt) and a platinum phone card to call the AA? Why do I keep falling for it?

Heh, not quite, it's a bottle of goop and a compressor. Must cost all of £15 or £20 biggrin

Thanks for the feedback on the tyres, I'll update if BMW ever get back to me.

I've got a 340i which came on Bridgestone run flats. They're much better than runflats from 10 years ago (on my E91), but they're still not great. I'll be replacing them before they're half worn with conventional tyres, hopefully something like Goodyear Asymmetric 2 or Michelin PS4 if they make them available in the right sizes.

Interested to hear about this option, please let us know when BMW confirm back to you.
