I got my 535i Touring almost the same time as Verysideways; identical spec but silver not grey. I sold mine after 18 months; it didn't depreciate much at all despite having bought it from a main dealer.

Yes, it's nice to have a rare petrol and it's surprisingly economical but the engine doesn't feel muscular in an F11. After E39 540i and two E61 545i Tourings it was a bit characterless. I don't miss it. Wish I'd had a 535d now, to be honest.

Another person here who has been chasing 535i Touring ownership.

All either too rich for me or just not around full stop.

In the end I've bought a heavily specced F11 530d which I'm collecting on Saturday. I know it won't disappoint. But one day I hope to be able to get myself in a well-specced petrol unit.

Mind sharing the spec and price? Think I'm going to settle for a 530d too. I'm after xenons, heated seats and pro nav as a minimum. Really want electric boot and memory seats too if I can find one with them.

I think BMW specced management cars with pretty much that spec - electric memory seats, pro nav, adaptive lights etc. It's definitely a good base spec to aim for. I would have liked adaptive ride, upgraded leather and upgraded stereo but they were much rarer so I settled for one without them.

Twice now I have spent considerable time searching for the right F10 and both times ended up with a 530d and memory seats were notable as being very very uncommon.

They were very expensive - almost a grand - and when the standard seats were mostly electric anyway I guess people found paying £1k for a memory and electric back/forward a little too much to stomach.

Adaptive lights are very common on the pre facelift F10 because 90% of buyers would spec the Visibility Package if they wanted Xenons, which would also give you Adaptive lights and High Beam Assist.

Then at the facelift Xenons became standard and barley anyone specced Adaptive Lights after that frown

Virtually every 535i Touring I've seen has had the same spec - sport auto box, memory seats, 19" wheels, pro nav, visibility pack etc. I'm sure there was a default BMW UK box-ticking exercise going on for the management cars. The obvious exceptions are the manual ones because they knew there was no market for them at 6 months old hehe

No problem. Was up for £16k on AUC website. Ended up giving equivalent £15k but inc. 2yrs AUC warranty.

It's a late 2011 SE on 17s, no adaptive drive and a bit leggy (76k on the clock) but is in good condition and a generous option count, incl.

- heated comfort seats
- xenons
- HUD
- folding mirrors
- Pro media pack
- leather dash
- alcantara headlining
- storage pack
- Advanced Loudspeaker
- DAB
- power bootlid
- Comfort Access
- reversing camera
- full black panel
- Climate Comfort Windscreen & Sun Protection Glass

And a few other things I may have forgotten.

Looking forward to picking it up. smile

76k isn't leggy!

I'll hit that by its 2nd birthday... and hand it back with around 150k miles on it.

That's a proper spec! Some things there I've never seen on an F11 (alcantara headlining) and comfort seats seem much rarer than they were on E61s.

thats an incredible specification, you rarely see a leather dash and alcantara headlining on an M5 let alone a regular 5 series

I'm looking at selling my 530d M Sport Touring shortly, really reluctant to let it go as it has been such a good car and is always my first choice car if I need to go anywhere in a hurry or a long journey. I bought it new in October 2011 and looked several times at replacing it with a 535d but could never find one with as good a specification as mine, they always had some of my main favourite options missing.

Can I ask why you're selling it then?

Picked mine up yesterday and firmly convinced already that it will be very difficult to ever sell this car.

Can't wait for another 80mile drive today. smile

I have a new 530d coming in the next few weeks is the reason I'm going to sell it. I normally change cars when they are less than a year old but have loved the current one so much that I haven't been able to part with it.

That certainly is a good spec. How are you finding it now you've driven it for a few days?

What's the spec of yours?

I'm loving it. The mileage is certainly no issue - feels as good as vehicles I've driven with half or even less of the mileage.

The whole package is deeply impressive. I've had F10s as loaners before. I rented a 528i (the detuned 3l) in Germany when they first came out but mainly driven courtesy car 520d's since. But this is a superb all-round package - lots of grunt when you need it, but so refined and wafty when you don't. I'm pleased with the SE Suspension and small alloys; the latter lack a little bite on turn-in and can run a little wide if pushed, but that's not really the point of the car and I'd rather have the comfort over outright sharpness.

The leather dash, alcantara headlining and comfort seats make it a super place to sit - the car feels much more special than anything else I've had before.

I'm on my 10th BMW and this is probably the best overall package. Can't speak highly enough of it.

Glad to hear it.

There seems to be a few more popping up on the auc site at the moment, still none with the electric boot though, well not in my price range.

Quite a few with identical spec, which is odd.

Went and looked at one last week, inside certainly seemed to be a nice place to be, sadly it was white paintwork otherwise I'd probably have bought it. Looked a little too much like it should have been a police car.

You have a 535i? Just curious how you found the 528i you rented. I have the 530i saloon and was specificslly looking for either a 535i or 530i in saloon form as the boot is plenty for me. I find it very quick if you wind it up, certainly easy to get to into trouble on the roads. I imagine the 535i is quite a bit quicker in normal driving.

No, sadly "just" the 530d. I had been looking for a 535i but so few of them about - particularly in Touring form, which is what I was looking for.

The 530d is certainly quick though and on paper, at least, only 3/10th of a second off the 0-60 pace of the 535i. I'm sure the 535i is a more pleasurable place to be with the 6-cylinder petrol, but the 530d is a good second place.
