Has anyone had their M2 tuned yet? There are a few companies offering 40-50bhp extra which doesn't seem overly much for the engine, but the prices vary wildly. I'm not going to do anything before it's run in, but has anyone else done anything yet, and are you happy with the results?

There's not many people tuning the M2 at the moment. AC Schnitzer do a piggy back plug in box for £3,045, however, that also includes a warranty presumably to replace the BMW warranty that will be voided.

I have been considering something myself but I'm going to leave it as it is as I want the full BMW warranty.

Yes, AC Schnizter do various upgrades & they have an M2 demonstrator at their UK dealer Rossiters. I'd give Chris Rossiter a call if you're looking at tuning - my friend had a Stage 2 M135i from them & it was an impressive car.

DMS also have an M2 Custom tune available. Not sure if they've a Stage 2 yet, but can ask tomorrow as my car's (not an M) having a boob job.

Thanks. £3,000 just doeasn't seem like the right price. Hopefully once it's run in there'll be good companies offering something for a bit less.

But BMW can't void a warranty for something they don't know about smile

Apparently BMW will know about it as they have software to see if the car has been over boosted from standard boost levels, whether that's true or not I'm not sure.

I recently spoke with Litchfield who have withdrawn their plug in box as they said they couldn't get it quite right.

At the end of the day it's your choice whether to either fit a tuning box or get it remapped. I also think some people should learn how to drive properly, i.e. learn to carry corner speed as that's key......anyone can drive quick in a straight line.

James, TDI Tuning based in Chelmsford do a plug in box for £420 as I've already spoken to them which gives 427bhp and 417lb-ft torque. just found out they also have a unit in Manchester as well.

Agree, well made tuning boxes can be a good option, just remember to take it off before servicing!

Not sure I'd go for an outfit called TDI tuning though? But maybe they are OK. They can do your motorboat or tractor too, so they are obviously performance petrol specialists....

The old N54 tuner boxes had minimal connections all done inside the ECU hidey hole, but these N55 piggyback boxes have a lot of leads to sensors all over the place, so a bit more involved to install.

You obviously haven't heard of them before and do not know what their product is and before you berate a company name do the research to see what they can do.

Their new box is a triple channel box and connects to three sensors on the car and they have said takes 5-10 minutes to install.

I used one of their tuning boxes on a 2015 Audi S3 for 18 months with no problem at all and it transformed the car. Their new triple channel box which will work on the M2 looks quite good and after a lengthy chat with the companies founding director this afternoon I'm seriously thinking about getting a box once the running service has been completed on my M2.

Sounds scary, but I've seen a Superchips box installed on an M135i, 4 (possibly five) plugs, all done in 10 minutes. The end result was deeply impressive (though the F20 chassis hardly needs a massive increase in Hp and torque....)

LOL, they will know if they look.

I find it amazing that people think they can't tell.
