HANG ON to a DB9? IT WILL PASTE ONE!!! If it didnt you were not driving it properly.

M5 does 0-100 in a touch under 10secs, a DB9 is 11.5.

I find BMW nav likes to take my down some farmers routes for some reason. Must think my car is an X5.

Just going back to the DB9 debate. I don't know how many of the contributors have owned (not driven) a DB9, Bentley Conti, Ferrari F430, etc etc. I have and more besides and the net result of ownership is that you realise how much of a fantasy their higher standards, better quality, better environment, superiority really is.

The simple fact is that you cannot own a DB9 or similar and actually drive it for any reasonable number of miles without constantly worrying about the increase in mileage and therefore depreciation and difficulty to sell, the ridiculous cost of servicing it, the fact that they go wrong almost on a daily basis... The list goes on and from experience can confirm that this applies to any manufacturer who portrays themselves as being a premier marque. i.e. Bentley, Rolls, Lambo, Aston etc.

While I do not own an M5, it is apparent that the car can be owned and enjoyed rather than having it sat in the garage and having to tell your mates down at the golf club how you own one of the seemingly more flash marques that actually do not perform. How fast it is won't come into the equation as you won't dare drive it anywhere, but you will your M5.
+1

Some people drive the cars in the real world, some people appear to
drive the results of the marketing department.

Just traded my X5 4.8is for a M5 touring, and though Ive only had the car over a week its starting to attract the odd nutter who has to get behind and overtake and then slow down just so I have to overtake!!

Thought this only happened to me when I have my TVR Sagaris out on the road

Anyway the car in 400HP, 400P, 500P and M mode is awesome, I have had 2 X5 4.8is over the last 6 years and never occured to me to try one of these, missed out there this car is awesome! Fuel yes every 200miles but the tank isnt that big, so its same as X5 overall, but seeing 15.0mpg on the dash is scary, luckily I work for oil companies!!

Im off to work again soon but will update once tha car has been driven, I will have to drive down to France with her to my house in the SW, but was concerned on the comments of the wide berth fitting in the channnel tunnel train, I have a 530d est on french plates and that fits OK, will have to look again at the specs

The M5 touring is a great car wish I had looked earlier - watch this space for updates and photos
