Picked up a couple of wheels last week after a refurb and as it was finally a bright dry day I put the summers back on with the refurbs on the driver's side!

I know these 158s are the OE fitting but they're bloody horrible, and the previous owner even found another set of them for the winters. frown

I finally managed to get my phone connected to the car which is a bit of a faff, but that also meant that I had a new problem after I’d fitted the aux socket and had to remove a plug from the quad lock which turned out to the plug for sound from the phone / nav.

I managed to find the CD changer plugs hidden in the boot so I’ve ordered a BlueMusic adapter to plug into these.

I also fitted an alcantara gear gaiter.

Gave it a wash with a bucket of water, topped up the coolant and took it out for a spin to go and retrieve breakfast from Mawgan Porth. Engine light came on for the first time, might have put a few mm too much coolant in? Drove really well, smooth and temp needle was bang on. Bleddy love this car, although did think about transplanting the engine into a 1 series coupe last night, maybe it sensed that and put the engine light on in protest lol.

Coolant low would put an engine light on, too much coolant will bleed out the cap IIRC

Check for any vac leaks on the intake boots MAF to TB etc - that's the general cause for the EML on a petrol E39

Fortunately they’re cheap though. I use them as winter wheels, and I bought a good one for £40 a few years ago. No bugger is going to nick them off of the car either. hehe

I'm probably the only person who doesn't mind those wheels, wish they fitted my e39.

They'll fit fine; just get 15mm 74.1 to 72.6 hubcentric spacer adapters all round and away you go thumbup

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/173392217683?itmmeta=01...

Style 158s are offset 34; 15mm spacer will have them sitting at offset 19. Run them with 235/45/17 tyres and they'll be bang on for an E39 thumbup

I ran OEM E39 Style 66s 17x8 all round with offset 5 (15mm spacers) on my Jap import E39 530i touring & 540i saloon with zero issues - original offset is 20 wink

Does that mean x5 wheels will fit my e39? Only reason I ask is because those spacers are for x5?

edit, ignore that, silly et on x5/6.

Ticked off a couple of silly little jobs on my Z4 yesterday.

Replaced the broken filler cap cord with an eBay special.

The trim around the gearstick didn’t fit properly because of a broken clip. I couldn’t find a black one on eBay so bought a grey one and painted it gloss black to match my trim. Also fitted an alacantara gaiter with stitching to match the seats.

I also collected my 261’s that I’d bought last night and will get them dropped off for paint as soon as I can.

Driving on the M25 a week ago and an almighty bang from a stone resulted in two cracks right in my eyeline about 2cm apart.

Autoglass appointments at home and office were 2+ weeks out so went to their Slough branch on Thu morning and it was all done in 90 minutes. Impressed. Cost £115 for the insurance excess.

Sorted out the front electric windows, which had become possessed by the devil himself. To begin with, when I raised the drivers window, it would hit the 'buffer', then drop back a CM or so. When raising it again it would sit (stay) at the correct stop.

Today, the passenger NSF window started also being possessed. I relented, although I felt like throwing a brick through it whilst shouting 'work now you sadistic glass !'

After much research, it seemed the windows had become dumb. The 1 cm drop was it thinking the 'buffer' was a 3 year old childs finger, ergo it dropped to not slice it off. I 're-trained it' with a sequence of inputs found on line, and suddenly, both electric windows have decided to work properly.

If this car was a woman it would have been slapped 10x already today (that bit is a joke, I very rarely slap my wife, and when I do she's been forewarned so deserved it!)

I've just fitted the decent set that has decent run-flat Continentals. My other set is really scabby, but has good Hankook run-flat winters fitted.

After swapping over last week I'm thinking of selling one set and getting some all-seasons!

I spent a while looking for the menu that disables my Glingon cloaking device that must be fitted to my 530d given the number of cars that can't see me (usually Audis). I've taken to driving with headlights on at all times but it doesn't seem to help as I'm frequently having to brake, swerve or accelerate to avoid a bump. Any ideas?
