Trouble is, I can’t find a dealer who has a demonstrator available for a test drive. Do you have rear steer on yours?
No heavy options on mine such as Sunroof, rear wheel steering, and active roll bars.

Curb weight is just over 1800kg as a result.

Handles better than equivalent Audi V8's as the motor isn't hanging over the front wheels. I have not driven an E63 for comparison mind.
Hi

Can I query the curb weight? BMW says the EU weight is 1990kg. DIN would therefore be 1915kg. How did you get to 1800kg if you don't mind me asking? Or is the BMW quoted weight the maximum possible weight of the car with all the options ticked?
Can I query the ‘curb’ weight?
I'm American. Maybe Boosted8 is as well.

I reckon it would be very difficult to find a demonstrator, in the last few months I've seen one or two on the AUC site that must have been demos as they were being sold with low miles at around 6 months old. They are very rare in any case (mine was the first one the local dealer had even had sight of and I've never seen another on the road as yet.

It's the first car that I've ever broken the cardinal rule of not test driving before buying but I was so sure I'd like it that I just decided it was worth the risk, and suffice to say I've not been in any way disappointed. It just does everything I want it to and provides the right mix of ability to make you smile when you want it to and at the same time it is astoundingly good for covering long distances in comfort.

I was going to go for an M3 which is a similar price point but it was going to cost more per month and it didn't have a V8... Yes, it's going to be faster on a track or cross country because of being lighter and more nimble but in reality with the sort of daily use I have it made much more sense to have the 550. My favourite thing about it is the Q-car vibe that it has, it's a great car for amusing oneself completely rinsing folk in Golf Rs, old RS4s etc who don't realise what it is.

Curb or 'kerb' weight is used often in the US and Australia to represent the weight of the exact vehicle specified with a full fuel tank. To the best of my knowledge EU mass figures are with driver, luggage and fuel on the heaviest version of the model (all options added).

For example In Australia the M550i is sold in a few spec packages, the Bobby basic one without soft closing doors, hydraulic roll bars and sun roof etc is called 'Pure'. The official stats for curb weight of that model spec is 1826kg. This is the actual weight of mine with a full tank before I get in it.

Curb weight is much more valid for performance estimates I'm my view.

EU norm is DIN + 75kg. DIN is a standard car (no optional equipment), with all operating fluids at 100%, apart from fuel which is "at least" at 90%.

I've had to spend a bit of time tweaking the JB4 to get the best out of it. The map 2 boost levels seem to be better suited to the older 456bhp N63TU2.

Well I'm booked in at https://suspensionsecrets.co.uk/ In a few weeks time to get a proper geo setup at the hands of experts.

I will have the car weighed with new wheels and tyres on at that point. I will be highly amused if it comes in at the same weight or less than an M5 CS...

Why are you all posting all this about m550’s now that I have ordered a G21 Alpina.

If only they did a touring I think I might have been swayed!

They look absolutely smashing and far classier and more comfortable than the M5. Would keep my inner and outer old man happy I am sure. 700 ponies with a remap might keep my younger self laughing as well.

Bought some adjustable camber arms for the front. I find it slightly annoying the camber is factory fixed somewhere randomly between +0.5 and -0.5 on the front axle.

I don’t think it’s the same one, but there’s a Boston green / caramel for sale at Dick Lovett in hungerford.

Lovely, but £72K?

That's a quick way to lose £50k when normality returns.
