As an aside:

In VAG's 1.9 TDI's if your in 6th gear at 1,500rpm and then go WOT(wide open throttle) you will get clutch slip. Thats not full revs just fully open throttle up to maybe 2,500rpm, you will get clutch slip. So it forces you to drive round it and change down or feed in the torque.
WTF! yikes

Is that true, on a standard, out-of-the-box VAG?

Only for mapped ones.

You see on Briskoda (fabia section) many Fabia vRS owners having this issue. I think they up the torque to 400Nm.... thats too much.

All that extra power, shame its got an 'e-diff'.

Can BMW tell you've had the map done, I'm assuming it voids the warranty to get a remap?

Carl, how many miles has yours done now? How many since the re-map? Do you increase the servicing frequency since the re-map?

Just interested how it's coping.
Plenty o' miles mate. Done 12k+ on the map also. Well various maps. Car is going well.
How many miles is it on now then?

I put a tuning box on my 325tds once I'd fitted new injectors, was on 132k then now approaching 145k with no problems since, just a bit more black smoke when flooring it.
loads now, done 21k on the re-map too.

Can BMW tell if it has been mapped when you take it in for routine servicing ?

Only if they are looking for it, or if they test drive it. You of course run the risk of them doing an analysis if they find something wrong (and sending the ECU data off to BMW) but i've yet to hear of anyone having it discovered.

What's the total mileage then? Do you have it serviced more often as a precaution?

Hi, I find it hard to agree with the "don't use plug in crowd" because I've been running a 330d for 3 years and 50k miles with a Dragon Performance plug in box and it's brilliant. Takes 5 minutes to remove before BMW services just in case they get funny about it. Rolling road the car standard was 239 BHP, with the box 283 BHP, can achieve 50mpg on motorway drives between 70-80mph and about 37-40 mpg on the A roads commuting and I don't hang around. It also took a full 2 seconds off the 50 to 100mph time! (30% torque increase) It was £299 a bit over 3 years ago and is still working fine.

They just ram up the rail pressure by fooling the sensor though (may do some other stuff too, maybe MAF linearisation as well)

It's not a nice way to get more fuel in really. Effective, but for all the wrong reasons.

My motto, keep it calibrated, and keep the safeties in there as per OEM as much as you can. Tuning boxes work totally inverse to that logic because you decalibrate the ecu, and it now has no idea what fuelling it is running, despite it doing sensible things under the pretense it is!

Well remapped it would be c330-350bhp so does DPF delete and EGR delete increase this by 40bhp? I don't know but that sounds like quite a lot
