First manual in about ten years eek
Good job it has plenty of torque, I'm sure I'll forget and stall it a few times. laugh
Dear god you have missed out!! biggrin

I am currently saddled with boring gearboxes as mine has a slushbox in it and the missus has a twin clutch in hers so they are both about as exciting to drive as watching paint dry...its just foot down hang on flick a paddle now and then its dreadful!!

My old E92 M3 was a manual even though most went for the DCT but my love for three pedals is shining as bright as ever highlighted even more now I only have two pedals!!

Enjoy the new beast...it looks an absolute cracker! thumbup
You are a strange one. You like changing gears manually so had an M3 which supposedly didn't have enough torque so you bought a car with an automatic gearbox and less torque and, surprise surprise, you're moaning about that too!

Why the fk do you buy cars even I can see you won't like!? roflhehe

hehe

I cant argue with you Ross as I can be a clown sometimes! I only purchased my 330i just as a car to get me from A to B as its not capable of offering up of a lot more than that so I was hoping I could put up with the auto but I feel exactly the same about the gearbox as I did in my 4.8 x5 its just a boring gearbox to drive and clearly I just don't like a two pedal set up.

I am a fool to think that I could get on with that gearbox so I do deserve a slap for that!! smile

Thought I would post a couple of pics up of my big German.

Looks like any other E60 M Sport until you get round the back, quite a rare car and it's simply brilliant smile

Thanks, it's steptronic, the gearbox is really very good after never having an auto before, I'm quite impressed.

Sound and pleased you are enjoying it I do love the 4.8 V8 I had that engine in my old X5 and its super smooth and it sounds awesome! biggrin

The engine is in a different state of tune for the X5 and E60, the E60 has more power IIRC.

E60 550i is a nice car smile

There wasn't a big difference in bhp only about seven bhp if I remember correctly but the E60 is a far quicker car than the X5 and the fact the X5 weighed 2.2 tonnes didn't help its cause much! still went alright for a big beast I thought...I would love a E60 550i though as my old E61 520d was limp to say the least...great car but the wrong engine.

That 4.8 V8 is still the favourite BMW engine I have experienced I preferred it to both the S54 and S65 that's for sure.

It doesn't sound too much like a V8 I must say, it's rather quiet, but I do like the way it drives, ideal for my long commutes down to South of France with the family.

Hardest thing will be what to replace it with - ideally an F10 M5 if/when pennies allow!
