That looks great, especially in that colour.

Any pics of your 550i? Must be pretty rare, especially in the UK?

My B7 & F10 550i have been joined on the driveway today by the good lady's new chariot, a 3.0 SDrive Z4 M-Sport (longest BMW model name ever surely).

This replaces the hateful Fiesta 1.4TDCI that I had to take in along with the new missus two years ago, despite her protestations towards another BMW she agreed it was the pick of the bunch post test drives - happy days!

I would never use the 550 if I had a B7. Surely they're similar in size?

The 550i was supposed to be a 640d, an economical alternative and something to use as a daily to keep the miles off the B7.

When push came to shove and I was about to sign the deal I spotted the 550 in the corner of the showroom and promptly put the notion of a diesel to bed. Timed nicely with the drop in fuel price thankfully!

And the B7 does feel a fair bit larger than the F10, though that may be more perception than fact.

Absolutely wonderful, what a car!

What does it do fuel wise on a long run, out of interest? The figures suggest 30+ is obtainable but presumably thats just a dream?

My old Mans M6 can get that just about.... So no reason why this couldn't?

Cheers Fox

I doubt I'd see 30, it's not quite as economical as I told the missus when I bought it as an 'economical alternative' to the B7. In fact, I think they are very similar. Average is showing 19.x with a long haul motorway jaunt a touch over 26.

Even the unloved E65 is in the DB9 fridge end of the Cool Wall when in B7 form. I remember doing something not insignificant on the empty M11 when this E65 B7 overtook me with a WHUMP of air being walloped into submission and a wall of V12 noise, making me look like I was standing still... looked fabulous too, for the brief moment I had a glimpse of it as it buggered off towards Cambridge...

That would have been the wall of V12 noise generated by the B7s supercharged V8 of course wink

In other news, the missus has already tw*tted the passenger side front alloy off a kerb. Didn't take long.... tsk
