So, E39 and F10 M5s, what's the one in the middle, 540i? Not a fan of the tinted front side windows or the wing mirrors myself.

it is a 540i, i'm not a fan either of both mirrors and windows (owned for 1 month). Its just a case of finding the time to revert back to standard.

I did sit in an X3 at my local BMW dealer and it was no roomier than an E90 inside. Also, engine-for-engine, the X3 is slower than the 3-series.

They've really done well on the arches with these. I saw a black one on Sunday and was surprised at how much arch flaring they have.

Love the combination of Z1 and SZ. I take it your new missus approves too!

Saw one up close at my local dealer and as ATM said above, they've really gone for it with the arch flaring. I'm not usually a fan of modern stuff but it looks great.

As an aside, a friend of mine was in her '04 plate Z4 and I was taken with how well it has aged as a shape. Hers still looks great and is one of few convertible I'd own.

The F30M really only serves to highlight what a lovely-looking thing the E46 is and how badly BMW design has deteriorated since. What an ugly, disjointed, lumpy mess. Saw a photo of two dark blue 6-series (one E24, one F-whatever) the other day and was struck by how much more poised and elegant the E24 dinosaur is compared to the F-whatever whale...

She wants me the SZ to let go and prefers to be taken to a 2 stars restaurant like the Bokkedoorns.

Please tell me you're f*cking joking? All your comes from sitting in one once???

What's next, you're going to discuss the dynamics of an i8 because you've read a review?

Ah well, if that's an example of the integrity of your posts.....

Looking superb there - have watched the build of this since it was Blair's - glad to see another enthusiast is taking it further.

Just comparing interior space. The X3 is much the same inside as a 3er Touring, except that the seating position is uncomfortably high. Then there's the raw data - the X3 is, engine-for-engine, heavier, draggier, slower and thirstier than the equivalent 3er Touring.
