This isn't true. These wheels did not exist when the e46 was in production. Details are important to some ph ers.
I'm going to do something which isn't seen on pistonheads a lot and admit im wrong!Couldnt find any information regarding MV3s leaving the factory within the E46 production history.
Seems my sources were incorrect!
I still really like the alloys on my car though
Quicker, more sure footed, better equipped and better looking, but then it is 11 years newer.
The biggest difference is the gearbox and the chassis; the 2004 Tiptronic was slow and ponderous even in comparison to the 1995 Alpina Switch-Tronic; the 435d's 8 speed auto is quick and precise going up through the gears but once again has no 'feel' or engine braking coming back down again.
The chassis is loads better, even through runflats (which will be replaced by decent non-runflats when their time is nigh). The Audi's have always been competent but lacking involvement with always an understeer bias due to engine location; the BMW's Xdrive has a distinctive rear-drive bias and is hardly noticeable on the 435d as being all wheel drive.
It's a diesel though so it is therefore a tractor in engine note <sigh>.
Once she'd dismissed more 'interesting' options she liked the folding hard-top and size of the 4 Series Cabriolet.
The reasons for choosing the 4-Series over the 2-series was the space and the folding hard-top.
The reasons for choosing the 6-cylinder engines over the 4 cylinder engines were the power and the smoothness.
The reason for choosing the big diesels over the big petrols ware fuel savings of over £2000 every 12-15k miles.
The reason for choosing the 435d over the 430d was the Xdrive which is only available on the 435d.
The reason for choosing the low spec Estoril Blue/black leather car over the massively specced/every option ticked mineral grey/black leather car is that Mrs E24man finds the blue 'very pretty'.
