Are the manifold swirl flaps improved on these new models? Car sounds very nice by the way.

the pic above is a good start

I'll take some if someone can tell a technophobe how to upload them

I was hesitant about the sun protection glass but it looks perfect with the solid black

Are the extras you listed the only ones on the car? Sounds a lovely colour scheme BTW.

Is it really worth putting up with a rattly 4 pot ruining the otherwise silky smooth 5 Series experience in return for just 38mpg?!

I get 43ish with mine - so at £1.30/l I'm happy to suffer the 4 pot - it actually drives better than the 6 pot it replaced (down to transmission calibration in my opinion)

Congrats mate, love jet black. Prefer it to sapphire black, although not sure if thats an option on the 5 series.

You can't tell it is a 4 pot when your driving it though, and if someone is getting 38 in a 520d they would only be getting 28 in one of the six cylinder cars.

Sorry to disagree gizlaroc, but over the last 28,000 miles I've averaged 34mpg in my 535D which is not that far below the 520.

And its been DMS'd....

And I drive like a there's no tomorrow (when I can)wink ....

Have you ever seen a 535D go past a 520, no competition really.

Also sorry to disagree...

"averaged 34mpg in my 535D which is not that far below the 520"
Based on my 43mpg I make that 26% worse economy. Quite far below then.

Also the initial purchase price difference between a 535d and a 520d is around £12,000 so not really in the same decision matrix.

Maz, I was refering to the '38' in the comment prior to mine!

Either way the price differential is so huge as to make it a pointless comparison.

For what it is, and what it costs relative to its class rivals the BMW 520 unit is little short of amazing in my view. Great performance and very respectable economy.

i cant see that you do drive like that.

A true representation of some one who does will get 18mpg out of a DMS'd x35d.

That person is me.
