Interested in a 6 pot BMW Z4, but .....

... will have to strike the car from the list if there is no way for a high quality, secure, cycle rack to be fitted to the rear.
Does such a thing exist for the Z4? I'm using a Thule roof system at the moment, and it is a great product. Sadly my desire for a small 2 seater coupe/roadster conflicts with that plan - Prefer a hard top to be honest, but for £13k ish, the only option is a 350Z, and they have a bit too much of a drink problem by all accounts.

Hi Mat,
See this recent thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... (page 1 & 2)
I have been putting my bike on the back of the Z4 for years now. Works very well. Plus the boot is big enough for the rest of your gear. On a longish run I lost 1 or 2mpg with the bike on the back, still managed 32mpg on average.
I know of a good Z4 3.0 (not mine) for sale if you're interested.

Thanks for that. Some good info on there. I recall being surprised at the size of the boot when a mate had one, and managed to get a wheelchair in the boot.
I'm plotting a car change a bit later in the year (xmas prezzy to myself maybe?), so cannot look at cars now really, but thanks for the heads up .... I'm secretly hoping that the current state of fuel pricing, the predicted October VED increases, the economic pressure to limit luxury goods, and the seasonal lack of demand for convertibles (which I personally think is bks), will combine to see a good spec sub 50k mile 3.0 manual on my drive for £10-11k with some haggling.
