IR on AW is a great choice! I've been mulling over quite a few new BM's to replace my aeging E46 and I've test driven a couple of 1er's. Agree with all the comments made here about it. I also think it's the natural sucessor to the E46 - I can't bring myself to like the E9X's 3's yet. With the new performance range of acessories, you could get a seriously well put together car even more sharply in focus.

Having siad all this in praise of the 1, I still feel that (even in the sport guise) it needs a drop in order to really set it off - the coupe has a high roofline that is incongruous to the rest of the quirky, but effective styling.

I agree.

The roof line is slightly too high.

But the car does remind me of the E30 and 2002 previously.

It is an odd shape, but the Xenon's really help with the large headlights, and the standard 135i alloys look great in the flesh.

I would however prefer CSL's.

After 2 years I am seriously considering buying the car from the lease company and doing the following:

- BMW 19" CSL alloys
- BMW Performance Exhaust
- ECU remap / rechip - 360bhp
- BMW Performance rear sway bar to remove any tendency to understeer

Should total just over £3k.

yeah that car was an auto...has to be manual and i really want white with black, had Imola in the Z4M and loved it but I prefer black on white, DMS are still working on the map but i don't think they are far away, 340-360bhp would make the 135 a serious weapon for not alot, but I also think they look amazing and although I love the E92 m3, it's an expensive car to do 25,000 pa in and still be left a tad cold, time for something a bit more fun and a bit cheaper!

Last I heard was that 380bhp could be on the cards! Here's hoping!

I nearly bought a Z4M but pulled out due to a new job and 20k+ per annum. Glad I did looking at the depreciation of those things now - loved the car though!

Many US 135 owners have been getting around 320-330bhp from stock engines on the dyno which is pretty impressive! I would not be comfortable with 380bhp, I feel that the engine is probably best dealt to deal with around 350-360, above that I would be worried about longevity and the need to use stronger engine components and possibly fuel pump and overheating issues which are quite common with the *35i engine.
