Is anyone buying BMW 645/630s
Discussion
i have to say the priced for these look very tempting indeed!i graduate in a few months time so im not in a position to attain one at the moment, however im suprised nobody mentioned the 635d. i expect it might holds its value better value better. tho apparently this may not be the case as buyers in this market prefer to have a petrol engined.
just thought id mention the 635d as i feel it would make more fiscal sense and also the performane in the "real world" is suppose to be more than enough. having said this a diesel imo only makes sense if your covering big miles.

Hi mate, I'll say two things re: the 635d.
a) this is very personal, but my heart just tells me that cars of this type, GT or whatever, just seem right with a big throaty V8 in mind! All other engines, fantastic as they are, would seem to offer a different character. This my opinion solely.
b) the 635d has not been out long, and I've seen only a handful. Put it this way, I've seen more Veyrons in London that the diesel barge. And I suppose in this thread we're looking at the early-ish straight six/v8s that have had a lot of depreciation.......

thanks those are very valid points. when you think of GT you do think of V8 rumble and not a diesel rattle. though i have to say that our conceptions of cars are changing all of the time. i mean less than a decade ago nobody would really entertain the idea of performanc cars being powered by the black stuff or having a convertible with a diesel engine up front etc i mean audi R8 V12 TDI.
also regarding the 635d low numbers BMW GB expect 70% of all 6 series to be diesel powered. so im guessing they will become more common with time depending on the shelflife of the 6. (which logic tells me should be about 3/4 years or so).
sorry if ive hijacked the thread but thought it was worth mentioning the 635d.
