Is my car priced correctly?

I found this site yesterday whilst looking for more places to advertise my car for sale due to autotrader and ebay not working for the last 4 weeks.
I have dropped the price so that it is the cheapest 2007 523i m sport on autotrader but after a few initial enquiries and 2 viewings the phone has completely stopped ringing :-(
I think if i had sat nav it would have sold by now as about 2 out of every 3 callers asked that question fairly quickly, and i think the lack of heated seats cost me a sale with one of the viewers.
I am in two minds whether to drop further or sit tight a little longer.
I have finance attached to the car which will be settled off from the sale but this seemed to make the 2nd viewer a bit nervous and he didnt really seem to understand when i said that we could go to the bank together and settle the finance over the counter.

When an approved used BMW like this has a sticker price of £24K and without PX you will easily get at least £1.5K off, a 12 warranty etc, etc then a private sale is going to have to be a lot cheaper make the risk worthwhile.

When selling privately, find out what you would get in PX, if you end up with 10% more than that in a private sale, you haven't done badly.
Dealers have realised that it is a buyers market and pricing accordingly, private sellers are holding out just for prices to drop even further with the onset of autumn/winter.

thanks for the replies so far, as regards PX price i had a flick through parkers guide a couple of weeks ago and they were showing the PX price as around the same as my asking price.
From what i have seen since it looks like they are a bit optimistic.
I got an offer of 18k from one of those we buy any car type sites so they must have thought they could shift it on for 20+

Have you considered buying the proper sat nav off ebay for £5-800??
It would be better than dropping the price by a grand.
Just about every car you buy has finance on it so only the numpties will be put off by that, even when you buy from a dealer 99% of cars are on a stocking plan, and I would much rather buy a car privately where I make a draft or do a transfer to black horse, Lombard etc. than to an individual, you know a finance house is not going to be in on any scam.
I would guess it is more a case that it is the wrong engine, most people will want the 530i if going petrol, but 80% of sales on 5 series are diesel. Not saying you won't sell it, and for someone it may be perfect, but potential buyers of any car are limited at the moment, and only 20% of them are looking for petrols and probably only 10% of them are looking for the 523i.
I would just bide your time, consider adding the nav but I wouldn't drop your price just yet.

First, give some more details in the advert about the specific options it has, engine, fuel consumption, etc. Make it more appealing, not just from a price point of view.
Then, lower the price (e.g. no sat nav and "only" manual aircon) to something that would make the phones ring again. Sorry, it is a buyers market and buyers are into diesels at the moment, it seems...

How are the back seats in such a mess for a 14k mile car?
They have hardly been used, my little girls car seat normally sits on the drivers side but other than that they should be fine.Do you think they look poor on the photo?
I hadnt really noticed but i might need to take the picture again.

Maybe I am being fussy... here are the ones from the back of my 5 Series with 10 times the mileage (140k):
Yours just seem a bit more baggy with marks in them etc? If you can vacuum them or something to remove the imprints from the child seat I would, it'd take 10 minutes and there must be people out there as anal as me who'd be more confident with immaculate seats.

Ignore my finance comment. It has just been pointed out I must be a numptie.
Sorry! I was in a hurry and skimmed the replies and didn't see you had posted that. If you think about it though, it is much more reasurring to make a draft out or do a transfer to a massive lending house than give it to some stranger in a private sale.
I always go into the lenders local branch, fill out the V5, and then do a tranfer to clear the funds, the difference is then given to the seller by draft, cash or transfer or if they owe more than we have agreed he gives me the difference back.
Works really well and takes alot of the worry out of buying privately.

Only my opinion.

Your seats are impressive, tbh at first i thought the picutre was from a BMW brochure certainly not a used car!!Yours just seem a bit more baggy with marks in them etc? I will have another bash at my interior this weekend, i also dont like the way my leather looks slightly grey on the photos when it is really black.
Just a thought - Smokers pack.
What is that? A £2 cigar lighter? To me it conjours up the impression of a car that has been smoked in and hence will stink and have a bits of white dust and ash on all the surfaces. YOur car may not, but non-smokers (and esp ex-smokers) can be very sensitive about picking up on this sort of stuff and may well ensure your ad doesn't make the short list. Just a thought as it hit me the minute I saw your ad.
Cheers,
Matt
