This thread is depressing. I guess my 55 model with 40k miles is worth very little at the mo. I was offered around 14k in June by a main dealer buyer, thats probably dropped to 12ish now.
I quite enjoyed the car, but the damping, the electronic throttle and the position of the window switches really got on my tits.

Hmm so could have been you!
Whoever it was it was one sat afternoon/just after lunch dry day traffic lights (me not in my coupe but volvo) and it came beside me Im turning left the 130i straight on. Whoever was driving gave it the beans off the line (no loss of traction though) very nice sound.

They've got a '54' reg 116i for £9.2k, so surely it can't be right.
When I bought mine there was a similar age 118D M-Sport that was priced higher than the 3.0.....ETA: I'm in Berkshire too

Oh well, if it is genuine someone's got/going to get a hell of a bargain...
For some reason (VED perception/fuel consumption perception/ Other peoples perception of you running a big capacity unit) its killing the used values.
Im frankly amazed at the BMW AUC screen prices and on Autotrader it really gets silly.
Many 130i's seem to be spec'd with Leather, Xenons, cruise, ipod interface + std sport kit = one hell of a lot of kit.
Any owners here tried doughnut in them??

This 130i price silliness doesn't appear to apply to the 135i yet. I'd have expected them at around £20k by now, and they're nowhere near (not AUC anyway).
But its the coupe though so its a much nichier car than the 1 series. It was only ever designed to be very low vols so due to that and probably due to the fact they have sold fewer 135i's than expected i.e. diesel being higher then pure supply:demand.

I would have thought that the 130i was a pretty niche product in itself, but I take your point - the coupe aspect of the 135i is a factor.
Like you I actually prefer the look of the 5-door to the coupe actually - in a dark colour the coupe reminds me of a top hat.

Really anyone buying the 130i currently is getting a stunning deal they are near on £30k new but are trading at or less than the equivalent Focus ST.... go figure.
Marmite it may be and the 130i is certainly a niche within a love/hate model.
Are the R32's taking as much of a bashing or do they have a bigger following to keep up the prices?

A quick look at the classifieds shows that they are advertised for considerably more than same age/mileage 130is - which is a surprise to me considering their C02/MPG figures.Must be a looks/image thing.

Cheapest ive seen in a BMW AUC 130i Sport for £11,999 with a few toys no leather & that was only 12,000miles! Seems you both got your pants pulled down.
I dare say though that this car would be significantly older than my 8-month old one, so would be the earlier less economical/higher tax band version. I dare say it was the SE and not the M-Sport too.(Pulls pants back up}
OK, back on topic.
Reset the mpg and travelled from Leicester to Sleaford today (about 50 miles) for a work thing, took the A46 & A52 etc. Speed was mostly 50-70 mph with a little stop-start/heavy traffic (Grantham) and a couple of red-line overtakes.
Computer said 39.1 mpg on my arrival.
On the way home I reset the computer and gave it some welly, up to 1.3 leptons on the section of my private road that is remarkably like the A46 between Melton and Leicester.
Computer said 32.1 mpg on my arrival.
Love it.
