There is no info given is this the E92?
If so then its either a 231bhp 330d or a 245bhp 330d, also the 330i is again different BHP & vastly different MPG depending on which one you get.
e46 i think, as the e92 doesnt have C in the designation anymore. If so then its either a 231bhp 330d or a 245bhp 330d, also the 330i is again different BHP & vastly different MPG depending on which one you get.
Nevermind though, as the O/P seems to be huffing.

330i - Great car sounds really nice but will be doing 10 to 15mpg less than the 330d. Horses for courses.

Sounds like one of these people who needs to have a new car every 23 seconds.
If it aint broke/accident damaged/starting to get unreliable then why change? The grass is always greener but frankly keep the old boy (well its hardly old being a mere 6 years old!!).If he wants the 204bhp 330d over the 184bhp 330d he has apart from the 6th gear I really doubt he'd notice the difference on the public highway.
The switch to the 330i - well again its change for change sake.
If its changing from say a 316i (not even ES just the i bottom of the range) to say the 330d Sport 204bhp E46 then I can understand the change but changing when there is so little real world difference is a waste of £ IMHO.

Stop labelling every diesel owner as some sort of non enthisuastic dont know how to drive car owner.
Most keen drivers chose petrol, diesel is something they end up with through circumstances. I bet if your Dad had given you a 335i instead you'd be on the other side of the bandwagon.Fox- said:

Im glad ive tried it and enjoyed it. Its a cracking car. Not much else comes close for an overall everyday car.
My next car was going to be a E92 M3, but i think i might give the 335i a try first.
And... and... i'm waiting... phew...
I've driven both, albeit an auto 330Ci and a manual 330Cd, and i preferred the diesel and if i had to take one home it would have been the diesel. Probably due to not liking auto much. Diesel auto to me seems utterly boring, where's the fun?
Manual 330Ci would most likely be my choice.

Had mine since last weekend and am loving it. The power delivery isn't as punchy as the diesel with all that torque, but it is smooth and refined ad makes a terrific noise. If mpg is your concern then don't go the petrol route. Having said that though average combined mpg of around the 30 mark isn't at all bad for a 3 litre.

The effortless acceleration means you dont need as heavy a foot.
The petrol doesnt seem as quick but thats all down to delivery - the petrol pulls nice and hard through the whole rev range. Excellent car the 330.

How am I blinkered? The two cars I drive the most are a 530d and a 530i so similar their production months are just a month apart. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to make objective comparisons on the petrol v diesel thing.Fox- said:
