Hi All - I had the BMW iPod kit installed a few months back and was using it merrily for about 2 months after that. However in the last few weeks, I've been having trouble with it.

When you tell it to use one of the BMW playlists, it plays fine and allows you to change tracks etc at first. Then after some period of time (ranging from hours to minutes) it seems to lose control over the ipod. The music continues to play, but I can't control it. If I disconnect the lead from the iPod, the iPod remains in a frozen state (displaying BMW on the display) and I have to reset it to get it back.

Anyone else seen this? I'm not sure if I've upgraded the iPod code or not...I think Itunes does it automatically when an upgrade is available so I may not have noticed if it had. The fact that the iPod is locked up leads me to suspect the iPod code rather than the BMW interface.

Cheers,
J.

Just plug it into your pc, and update through itunes. It should be a button on the ipod page when it is plugged in. Not sure how an update would help, as it was working fine for a few months.

Hi Blue - thanks. I meant that I wasn't sure whether the ipod code had changed between my buying the kit in the car and when it started going wrong. I do know that it is at the latest level (1.3) according to iTunes. I've just reset it back to factory and it's currently copying all the music back again. If that doesn't help, I might try and load software 1.2 onto the iPod.

Cheers,
J.

Well a factory reset seems to have done the trick...it doesn't lock up any more smile
