My New E36 328i!
Discussion
Hi everyone,
Picked up my new car today, it's brilliant!
She's a 1996 BMW 328i Manual w/ 120k on the clock and FSH.
It's been extremely looked after by the looks of it and goes like murder, very quick for such a large car.
Here's a few snaps of the old girl:
The wheels are a bit on the small side at only 15" but I suppose beggars can't be choosers, lol
Cheers!
Darren

Does look a good car and very tidy, but i'd hardly call it large
Enjoy
Totally agree - the E36 was never a large car, its smaller than the later 3's, thats for sure!Enjoy
Keep on pining to go back to one, will keep an eye out for a 318iS saloon ... not very many around though ...

Hi Darren156. I would have to agree with you when you say "large" car. It was and still is after all a true 4 x seater, albeit a fast one! It's also got the 2.8 lump in the front, so it's no Mazda MX5, thats for sure. Looks like a great buy, do you mind me asking how much you paid for it, or is that a bit rude? (I'm after one myself, and am fed up travelling miles to see clapped out rust buckets with 8 x zillion miles on the clock and a bad paint job!- Know what a mean?). Cheers, Big Dan Palowski.

How much you looking to spend?I'm thinking of selling my 1998 328i Sport. It's a very, very nice car. 146k but drives like it's done less than half that. It's been very well looked after in its time, by previous owners and myself.
Recently looked at a e36 m3 evo. Same age but a lot less miles. Whilst it was quicker it didn't feel any where near as sharp to drive.
To the OP. Looks like a nice car, they really are excellent all rounders, especially for what they cost.
Cheers for all the comments guys!
Palowski, there are decent ones out there, you just have to bide your time and look at a few. I do agree though, there are sadly alot of E36 Sheds out there, I remember a neighbor had a 4 Door E36 in red and it was rusted to hell and faded as well, not a good look!
I paid less than what I thought I'd have to pay for it, that's all that matters, lol

Hi chrisr29, well, with over 1800 series 3's in the classifieds (take a look!) you would think that there would be plenty of motors to choose from. Trouble is, it really means that there are so many all over Britain, and of such varying prices and condition, you have to be real carefull before choosing which one's to go look at. I know it sounds crazy, but in some ways more choice means more head scratching! Price? I'm in the 1600 to 2000 squids bracket.

I'm looking for a bit more than that. I'm sure gooduns exist in that price range, just need to look carefully. Mine was the first one I looked at and it was so good I didn't bother looking at any others. I don't really want to sell it but I have way too many cars and.....well you know what it's like!scottbm said:
Just paid £2000 for a 328i m sport E36 N reg. This car has the LSD not traction control. Looked at loads before finding this gem. Full BMW history with 112,000 on the clock. Nice 18in CSL wheels.
No air-con but didn`t want the weight due to being used as track car.
Nice buy though
Sounds great, make good track cars those. Mines a later one with traction. Wish it had an lsd as the ASD's pretty crap really, especially when you pull away on a wet round about, get a bit of wheel spin and it kills the power! No air-con but didn`t want the weight due to being used as track car.
Nice buy though
You going for the 325 manifold mod and big bore throttle body? Keep thinking about doing it to mine but really want to keep it standard for resale purposes.

Yeah, think I'll just leave it standard. As an all round package it's pretty much spot on as it is. I remember, years ago, sticking a throttly body from a 5 pot Audi onto my Mk1 Jetta GLi. Whilst it boosted the top end urge it mullered the low end torque....but as it wasn't a five minute mod and I couldn't be arsed to swap it back, I just convinced myself the results where worth the effort. Though that theory washes less as you get older....
