Took advantage of the good weather here(Glasgow) yesterday to wash/polish the car and found a bubbling on the drivers door. There is no damage to the paint surface I can see, but there it was, size of a 50p or so. Its a 2004 car, full bmw service history, whats the story with getting this sorted under warranty assuming there is one?

Worth a try but don't get your hopes up. When I got my 530 Touring there was a bubble on the corner of the bootlid where the glass tailgate shuts, it's quite common as it's an area that traps water. I told the (independent) dealer that surely he could get that sorted by BMW under warranty, he said he's tried similar things in the past and the dealers will just say "Sorry, it must have been damaged". And refuse to sort it out. I don't think it's just BMW that do that in fairness, he implied most manufacturers take that approach.

He paid for the work to be done on mine, didn't even bother contacting BMW about it.

Maybe others have had different experiences though?

Take it to the main dealers, they will sort it if the area has not been painted by a non BMW approved bodyshop.

Check if the paint inspections have been carried out in your service book.

Thanks guys, I'll look in the log book and check and contact the local stealer.

Had a problem with rust on my petrol filler cap on my 2002 530d, took it in 6 months before warranty expiration, 1 month later - nothing, called up to remind them, three weeks later car is repaired and returned.

Good Job apart from the time it took of course!
